Everyday Things
Paper Poetry Prompt #5: Appreciate the Beauty in Everyday Life

Appreciate the beauty of a broken sea shell, floating at the bottom of a cavernous ocean, ripples and waves swept under a staircase of stars, kissed by lips that taste like poetry, in the eyes of someone you so desperately want to trust, before all innocence was lost.
Appreciate the beauty in everyday life, a rosebud in early spring, sunshine on a smiling face, children playing, coffee with a friend.
When words intended to unchain the heart, can also manage to rip apart, find the strength, feel the healing, discover love,
just breathe, and search for meaning and beauty in everyday things.

When I think about life, with both its wonderful and bittersweet moments, I often find solace and joy in appreciating the beauty in simple, everyday miracles, a baby’s laughter, a cup of coffee with a good friend, my favorite flowers blooming in the yard. To me, it brings a sense of connection, balance and gratitude. And maybe it keeps the poet, within each one of us, beautifully creative and curious.
Gratitude: Thank you to Suntonu Bhadra, founder of Paper Poetry Publication, for providing a platform that supports the lost art of handwritten poetry and artwork.
