Everybody Asks You to Change Your Life but Never Tells You HOW

Let me try to answer the HOW part.

Life is beautiful.

However, it definitely has its ups and downs. If I am not wrong, that’s the beauty of life. If you have all the ups in life, that’s boring, and all the downs are pretty straightforward.

Have you ever heard someone say change your life?

However, the person saying that has no idea what it means when they say change your life.

When I lived in a small village, many old folks always advised the young generation that it was time to change their lives. But the HOW part always needed to be explained.

I also felt like everyone in the neighborhood, especially the free old people, always turned to offer their two cents on what you should do differently. But again, was the “HOW” part missing?

Some people say to do more exercise, meditate, read more, learn more, travel more, etc., but how?

How exactly am I supposed to implement these changes?

How do you find the motivation to stick to them?

How are you going to combat the challenges?

It’s not like you started something. It will change your life right away.

It’s a sad reality that many of us face and have to deal with.

Truth: Change is hard.

It’s not a quick fix. Today, I will share a couple of things that worked for me. I hope they will help you find your change.

One approach is to break down our goals into tiny steps.

Instead of focusing on a 20-minute meditation, try starting with one minute or five minutes and gradually increasing the time.

Set a timer to meditate first thing in the morning or during lunch break. Train your brain that it will take no more than 5 minutes.

Another strategy that always works for me is reaching out to people over LinkedIn who are more accomplished than me and asking for guidance and support.

You will be surprised to learn that once, I sent an email to a high-profile public company executive, and he happily jumped on a 20-minute call to guide me on how to grow my career.

The key to growth is hidden in taking action.

Simply wishing is not enough; start simple and take action right now.

Your “WHY”

Everyone has a different WHY.

Your why is unique to yourself.

You need to find a reason that encourages you to get up from your comfy bed every day. Why do you do that?

What is the motivation behind it?

Can you double it?

Finding your WHY is crucial for success.

In the simplest terms, why do you do the work you do, and why do you live a certain lifestyle?

Here is a great book that will help you to find your WHY.

Find Your Why: A Practical Guide

Your mind

Build a process-driven brain instead of a result-driven one; a process-driven brain will help you enjoy the journey.

For example, when someone says you need to read more to change your life, then says start reading even ten pages.

That’s a challenging task.

It seems simple.

In reality, doing it for a day or two is pretty straightforward, but building a sustainable routine will take time. Here is a roadmap for doing a 30-day challenge.

I Read 20 Pages Daily for 30 Days

I Tried This Simple Meditation Challenge for 35 Days, and Here’s What I Learned

Body

Treat your body as a temple.

Pay close attention to what you put into it, especially in your late 20s or 30s. Otherwise, you might develop something from which it will be too late to recover.

Here is the simplest solution.

START

Start even doing one squat a day, then gradually building strength to 10 to 20 squats a day.

The key is to start; don’t worry about the gear (gym) initially; use your body weight.

Skills

Invest in high-income skills.

Every job requires some technical and workplace skills.

When someone says to change your life, it means to learn highly demanding, high-income skills.

According to Coursera, these 7 skills are the high-income skills.

1 — Data Analysis

2 — Software development

3 — User experience

4 — Web development

5 — Project management

6 — Account management

7 — Content creation and management

So the next time someone tells you you need to change your life.

Make sure to ask questions; don’t just smile and move on.

Ask the HOW part.

I’m pretty sure they don’t know the answer, either. It will help you in two ways: the same person will not bother you again, and you will know there might be another more accomplished person to reach out to and find support.

Always remember, it’s you who has the power to change your life, no one else. I repeat, no one else.

Take action NOW!
