It’s inevitable. Every time I write about feminism, angry men shout at me. “What’s wrong with women staying at home to raise the children?”

I think back to precious days at home with my little one and smile. Nothing, I tell them. Nothing is wrong with it. It’s just not reality, anymore.

In 1967, 49 percent of mothers were stay-at-home mommies. Clothes flapping on the line, and warm apple pie cooling on sunny cotton-draped windowsills.

Today, only 7% of American homes are Ward and June Cleaver, though you might not be old enough to get that reference, but you can Google it.

Sometimes, women work because we want to. But sometimes, Daddy’s check isn’t made of rubber and it won’t stretch far enough so Mama works, too.

We need to pause here, dear angry man, and ask — who is the decider that decides how thick your bacon gets sliced? I’m bet it’s not a woman.

In 1976, the average CEO was paid 36X as much as the average worker. Today? 369X as much. Math. That’s why families need two incomes now.

When mommies get home from work, there’s yet more work. Dinner isn’t ready, the housework isn’t done, the laundry isn’t washed. You know?

Because even when we help bring home the bacon, we still do the lion’s share of the cooking, and cleaning and parenting, too and frankly, it kinda sucks.

So, one day, she just gets tired. Tired of too much work, too little pay, not enough help. Tired of being a woman in the world that rich men built.

And you’re angry at women? For wanting to be treated fairly? Woman aren’t to “blame” for feminism, because blame implies wrongdoing.

We would not be shouting about equality if the men who built this social system didn’t decide that we were lesser than in the first place.
