Every Morning Should Begin In Your Happy Place; Thankfully
My cozy paradise, no matter what

“Write it on your heart that every day is the best day in the year.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
Today is the best day of the year. What if you woke up saying this to yourself every day? What intentional mindset suggestions do you make every morning?
Morning hours set the tone for the day. If you wake up in a happy, orderly environment and speak words of a clear vision for the day, the chances of a great day will be more likely.
It’s one thing to have a happy place to escape from time to time, but what if you’re away from home?
Perhaps you’re staying somewhere that your happy place is miles away and you’re feeling uncomfortable. Or you desire a mental break from the same old, same old. I call these mini-vacations.
I talked about my happy place before and how I used and continue to use a simple technique during my breast cancer treatments to transport myself to my happy place anytime.
My happy place technique
I like this technique because it is easy to do. With practice, you can almost feel like you’re there, honestly.
- First, you must be able to sit quietly with your eyes closed. Relaxing!
- Next, think about a place that makes you happy. For me, it’s my camping shack, somewhere I’ve been on vacation or my favorite morning space. I love my cozy chair with a candle lit.
- Refreshingly, as you keep practicing getting to your happy place, it gets easier.
- Finally, I recently started saying, this is the best day in the year while feeling myself sitting at my shack, favorite vacation destination, or morning area.
We consist of our perspectives on things. How has your attitude or outlook been?
“You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you.”
– James Allen, Author
Ending your day on a good note
The way our morning gets started begins before our head hits the pillow.
Setting yourself up for a great day only takes a few extra steps in the evening.
Here are five pointers that help my mornings run smoother.
- Before bed, start a nightly routine of unplugging with a hobby such as reading a book.
- Before bed, set up your coffee, tea or plan your breakfast. I just created a cozy coffee nook, which is making my space even sweeter.

- Before bed, make sure to set your alarm. There is nothing worse than waking up late.
- Before bed, arrange your clothes for the next day. My wardrobe is relatively simple. I don’t want to waste any time thinking about what to wear.
- Before bed, do a ten-minute tidy; it’s important to create a happy, orderly environment.
“Make each day your masterpiece.”
— John Wooden
Take away
Our days are our masterpieces. If you’re not happy with how your days have been going, perhaps it’s because of your perspective or actions.
Could setting yourself up the night before be a morning mood changer? What is one small change that could bring you closer to a happier morning and, ultimately day?
Focusing on your mindset will bring you closer to a happy place, which I refer to as my cozy paradise.
Do you have a cozy paradise and mantra where you speak a clear vision into your day? Might you try saying, today is the best day in the year?

I’m grateful for my cozy, orderly morning spaces. I’m thankful and content no matter my circumstances or location.
