September 21st was World Gratitude Day, but to me it was an ordinary day since gratitude is part of my life.

Actually, it’s a miracle maker.

Ever since I have been practicing gratitude, I feel much better.

Every morning, when I wake up with feelings of anxiety or sadness — almost every day — I say or think: ‘thank you and the day improves in a minute.

It’s a new day, I have new energy, and I leave bed in a happy mood.

During the day I say ‘thank you for many reasons: I just stop to consider every experience while I am living it, and after. A smile, a talk with a colleague, a well-written email.

In the evening, when I think about my reasons to be grateful before I go to bed, the list is never-ending.

It was a great day, I think.

It happens every day, every week, every month.

To encourage you to practice it, I add this wonderful article by Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles

I found her alphabetical list so intriguing, that I prepared one myself, and I advise you to make your own.

Yet, I started thinking about it in Italian, and I started with A for Amore (we are so romantic). Some consonants are not used in our language, but I will try in English even if it might not seem complete.

Here is my gratitude list in alphabetical order:

-Attitude, the way I react to life experiences. I tend to be optimistic and find a funny story in every situation, and I like it.

-Books, that was an easy one. Bookshops.

-Coffee. Unfortunately, I had Covid and it left me with a few health problems. The doctor said: no more coffee. No tea, it’s even worse.

Of course, now I love coffee even more than before.

-Doctors: they help us face our difficult times.

-Emotions, I am alive and I always welcome every emotion thinking it shows that my soul is alive.

-Freedom I live in a free country and I know a lot of people are not so lucky.

-Girlfriends, a precious gift.

-Help, that I have from many people around me, and that I try to offer whenever I can.

-Italy is my county and I love every street, every corner, and every color or smell I encounter in my life.

-June, when summer comes.

-Life, another easy one. Love, my guiding light. Light, it’s in my name, Lucia means: she gives light to others.

-Me. I am more and more grateful to myself every day.

-Nature, how it can help us when we are tired or sad or stressed. How it is always there for me every time I ask for help.

-Old people, who listen to us and let us make our own mistakes without adding: I told you so!

-Patience I practice it, yet it’s never enough.

-Relationships with our family and friends are all we need.

-Silence, I love it.

-Time. I love my time and I hope I will have a lot of years to live.

-Universe, another easy one.

-Victories, a few but very tasty.

-Words to express feelings, words to write.

It’s true, gratitude makes every day worth living. It’s a precious gift we have, and it’s free! If you want to feel better, start now! ❤

Thank you Sahil Patel for reminding us how lucky we are!
