Summary

The website content describes the daily routine of caring for a diabetic cat named Phizer, including feeding, insulin preparation, and administration, as documented by the cat's owner.

Abstract

The content provides a personal account of the meticulous morning and evening routine required to care for a diabetic cat. The owner, who refers to himself as dad OmniPhizer, details the process of feeding Phizer wet pate food, specifically chicken or turkey, followed by the careful preparation and administration of insulin. This involves warming the insulin, shaking it to mix, drawing the correct dosage, and then injecting it after Phizer has eaten a bit. The routine also includes providing fresh water and an expensive prescription dry food that caters to Phizer's dietary needs, despite his already large size. The owner shares this routine in hopes of demystifying the process for others and expresses a sense of peace and satisfaction in caring for his pet.

Opinions

  • The owner finds the insulin preparation process manageable, despite initial apprehensions.
  • Phizer is depicted as a picky eater, only accepting certain types of wet food.
  • The owner expresses that Phizer's dry food is costly but necessary for his health.
  • There is a hint of pride in the owner's ability to care for his large, diabetic cat.
  • The owner seems to be still adapting to the formatting of sharing his routine online.

Ever wondered what it’s like having a cat with diabetes? Probably not, unless you have a friend who has a dog or cat with the dis-ease. It’s more common in both dogs and cats, but particularly dogs, than you might think. So I decided to make a small documentation of my 0800hrs routine that I do every single morning (and evening at 2000hrs!) with Phizer. I hope this lets me post this properly, I’m still getting used to the formatting.

So. Here’s Morningtime with dad OmniPhizer!

First- wet food. Has to be pâte. He won’t eat anything but chicken or turkey.

Next- preparation of the insulin. This is is a little bit complicated, but not as imposing as I first thought it would be when I was learning. Remove from fridge, roll GENTLY between palms to warm slightly…..then Once Two Three Four (I’m not going to show the shakes!) shakes to get the air to the top.

Ok. Then- drawing up appropriate amount and getting the air bubble out (can be more frustrating that actually getting it into your kitty!)

Next- fresh water (cats LOVE cold, fresh water) and a scoop of the appropriate amount of his INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE dry food, which is the mainstay of his diet (oh yes; he weighs over 20–21lbs and is not, according to his vet, in the slightest 6overweight. He’s just HUGE!). This bag, which I buy locally, costs $110 CDN.

Then — after he eats a bit, the shot- this is posed as it takes two hands.

And that’s my Phizer Brighteyes diabetes routine! Hope you enjoyed. Peace Christopher Paul
