Even Stones Pray

February Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Statues”

Peace is something to pray for.

I noticed this little stone figure sitting under the tree on my latest walk on the river trail a few miles from my home. There aren’t many statues that I have access to unless I travel to the nearest city, where I can find a number of amazing ones. But time seems to be a precious commodity, and I figured if something jumps out at me, I’ll use that as inspiration.

Strange thing #1 about this little statue — it DID in fact jump out at me and as soon as I noticed it I felt in my heart and soul, that it was praying for peace and nothing else.

Strange thing #2 — recently, I grabbed a free book from the lobby of the local library (say that three times fast) titled “The Joy of Being Human” by Eugene Kennedy. There is a reflection for each day of the year, and what is the reflection for Sunday, February 18? “Is peace something to pray for?”

It’s a sign.

Surely, this can be debated by anyone and everyone, but I know what my answer is.

Thanks for reading!
