Summary

The article "Escape to Love" reflects on the nature of love and the personal journey of discovering it within oneself, suggesting that true love is found internally rather than externally.

Abstract

"Escape to Love" is a contemplative piece that delves into the essence of love, questioning societal notions that love must come from external sources. The author initially considers nature as a source of unconditional love, recalling a moment of joy when encountering a bunny. However, the author ultimately concludes that the deepest experience of love is found through self-reflection, in the solitude of one's own company, free from external expectations. The article emphasizes that love is a state of being and an intrinsic part of our existence, advocating for self-discovery as the key to truly understanding and experiencing love.

Opinions

  • The author believes that love is often mistakenly sought as a transactional relationship from others, such as family or friends.
  • A profound moment of love can be experienced when connecting with oneself in front of a mirror, described as a gateway to the soul.
  • The external world is seen as a place of distraction from the pure love that can be felt internally.
  • The article suggests that love is not dependent on a specific location or activity; it is a constant state of being that can be accessed anywhere once understood internally.
  • Self-love and self-awareness are presented as the truest forms of love, transcending momentary experiences in nature or interactions with others.
  • The author expresses gratitude towards Diana C. for providing a platform (presumably a writing challenge or community) that facilitates personal growth and healing through storytelling.

Escape to Love

But Where Should I Go?

Tropical Prompts For The Wanderlust Souls: Write about a place to go when you need love.

Before I tackled this prompt, I sat and pondered, when do I feel the most love? Then I thought, where do I go when I need to experience love?

At first, nature was the first place that popped into my head, it is where I would escape when I need some authentic love and indeed, she gives love unconditionally. When I’m out in nature, I ask the divine essence for miracles, and she never fails to deliver something magnificent for me to see.

Recently, she sent this cute bunny to say hello to me and it was delightful moment, a moment of bliss that brought joy into my heart.

But that’s just it, that was just a moment, a short glimpse of nature’s abundance. But was that really love? In that moment, I experienced elevated levels of deep emotions, which could potentially be defined as love.

We live in a world where many of us believe that in order to experience love or feel love it must come from something outside of us. For much of my life, I believed love to be a transactional relationship between two people. Perhaps from a child, a spouse, a family member, a friend etc. While we can experience various aspects of love from the aforementioned, I find the place that I feel the most love is when I am staring into my own eyes while in front of a mirror.

the depth of the eyes is the gateway to true love behold, tis the soul.

While gazing into the mirror, seeing the reflection of my soul, I can escape the unpleasantness of the external world. In those moments, there are no expectations, no external transactional relationship, it is just me and my soul escaping into the depths of our being. This is a safe space where I can freely express the pure and beautiful love that I feel in my heart.

When I think of love, I think of it as a state of being. Therefore, in my head, if we all could experience love at that level, I don’t think we necessarily need to find a place to escape to. So, it wouldn’t matter if we are staring into a mirror, outside in nature, at the beach, climbing a mountain, planting flowers in a garden, writing a poem, spending time with loved ones, in a sweet embrace with someone, on a romantic date, helping others, or just sitting alone in a state of silence, no matter where we are, we would always be in a state of love.

Love is the true essence of our being. To know thyself is to know love and to know God. Therefore, if you would like to find a place to discover love, detach from the external world and rediscover who you are.

This was written in response to Diana C.’s Monday Tropical Prompt:

Thank you all for reading and thank you Diana C. for creating the space so that we all can revisit stages in our lives, tell our stories, grow, and heal. KTHT has been a rollercoaster, one that I don’t mind riding.
