Escape The Rat Race And Make More Money
A mental exercise in non-futility
Great Success!
From time to time I bring up this video that I watched a while back. It is about population growth and the future of humanity. The thing that sticks with me is the idea that we continue to have progress because the number of people who can contribute to the problems keeps increasing.
Consider for a moment that you have to have a base number of people for a society to work. We all know the balance is very bottom heavy. Most people are at the bottom, with very few at the top. As we increase in population, the number at the top increases…but…so does the number at the bottom.
The internet has created new and better ways to distribute wealth than ever before, but even still, the people at the top take the largest cut. It DOES provide upward momentum though…so ARE we really climbing? Or is the top of the pyramid getting further out of reach?
Wealth gaps and income inequality deeply fascinate me. A great deal of it is economics, which are beyond my understanding. Another portion is mental, the Dragon Disease, which is even more beyond my understanding.
Resistance is Futile
I keep doing the “right things”. I went to college. I got a well paying job. I pay my bills each month. I bought a house. I have a white fence.
The goal post keeps moving?
For example: The city I live in has been experiencing a population increase, which has caused an increase in traffic accidents. So? My car insurance has gone up. Out of my control.
Ironically..is it ironic? Yea, I think so. Ironically…I get a free month of insurance if I pay the whole six months up front. This is the classic, it is more expensive to be poor scenario. I have the thousands to pay up front, so I save money. The poor person does not, it’ll COST ‘EM!
Being poor in the United States is VERY expensive. I had to claw tooth and nail to get out of that death trap of a rigged system.
Change the game
I sit here today with bigger plans in mind. The desire to grab a larger slice of the pie for myself by creating more to share on the internet. More videos, more stories, more ideas. It adds up.
It seems it should work…but there is only so much pie to be had if most of it is up top. Mathematically, a LOT of us have to be on the bottom. I am in the second tier, just above the lowest. Am I testing my luck by trying to go upward?
I have a specific goal in mind and it is not a monthly income amount. I want to pay off my house and I want to do it as fast as humanly possible. If I could do that, my income would be leaps and bounds more freeing for me.
I don’t want a bigger house. I don’t want a faster car. I don’t want a yacht or an island. I don’t want a new wardrobe or jewelry. I don’t want a swimming pool (although a small hot tub would be cool).
- I want my house 100% belonging to me.
- I want to expand my native plant butterfly garden across the back fence and put in some bird houses.
- I would like to make my vegetable garden more productive.
- And I would love to see my black berry bushes take off.
What are your plans with a slice of pie?
