Envy
Life’s maneuvers
Though you suffer They hate your smile You almost die They want your guts out
You have almost nothing They crave your brain They chase you While you barely crawl
Envy is the price of sacrifice With more work comes loneliness The more the wind rises us The more the eyes can see us fly But still, we’re almost dying
From far away The arrows can easily perforate our heart We seem to be on the rise But the wind makes us less wise
We can’t control the mind, we can’t relate We are less available to those who love us And fly too hard to touch those who envy us
That is more than adversity That goes beyond sanity That’s life dancing over our grave And time slapping us in the face
They are it, have it And can get more of it But they want to cut our noses out As we start to sniff it
It’s not them It’s their troubled mind Which conflates smiles with cash And overlooks life’s maneuvers
