KTHT Prompt The power to consciously project your energy
KTHT is a wonderful publication! The energy of the writers — my cohorts and our editor is phenomenal! The Universe has challenged me to respond to this prompt and I hope my response is worthy of your time.
My mother told me that as a baby I would wake up “singing” — the babble of a baby, the unknown spirit within, projecting that energy in the only way I knew how. Like a bird’s early morning song she and my Father were always amazed. It may be an energy that was transformed by my mother. She started playing the piano as a toddler and by the age of 14 was playing for her church. For a short time, she toured with a nationally known female gospel trio. This is probably why I love and appreciate all types of music. All music includes chords, melodies, harmonies, and rhythms that speak to the spirit and stimulates different energies in the listener.
Non-verbal Energy
Although extremely off-center due to a massive crossbite, people always compliment my smile. When I smile I temporarily overcome embarrassment about the look of my smile. Instead, I absorb the positive energy I receive most times in response. On the other hand, it is often said that you shouldn’t trust someone for whom a smile comes too easily. How does one know how “easy” it is for someone to smile? What hurts are they pushing down so that the smile can rise?
Facial and body expressions project a type of energy-producing non-verbal communication. For example, in meetings, the non-verbals of those listening to your idea or presentation can be very distracting if you make that your focus. For example, when interviewing potential employees either 1:1 or as part of a panel non-verbals are very important. I use my smile and non-verbals to help the candidate with their nervousness and to let them know that I am very interested in what they have to say. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be in the space! This is especially important now that we must interact virtually. Yet, I realize too much of this effort can be distracting, similarly to the sighs, frowns that I have seen from colleagues.
It is not disingenuine to smile and maintain positive body language queues while remaining authentic in thought and response during an interview. It is simply a skill learned and enhanced with experience. This is something I plan to cover in my upcoming career coaching platform. Thank U Universe!
Verbal energy
I’ve also been told I have a very soothing voice and asked if I had ever considered voice acting. I even had a doctor tell me the same during a doctor’s visit. The energy that is a component of my voice superseded the nervousness I was experiencing. I still chuckle when I think of that doctor's visit.
The capability team in our department recently audited our training materials. The leader told me they reviewed modules for which I was the voice. It was my voice taking the trainee through the visuals of the module. The leader stated that everyone asked, who is that?-her voice is so soothing and calming?.
My co-worker’s sister began chemotherapy at the beginning of 2020. I had never met her. Using my i-phone’s voice recorder tool, I began to speak affirmations, read scriptures, and anything I thought would be helpful. I began to share these with her and we began to speak on a regular basis. If she was fearful, in physical pain, tired, etc., I would speak directly to those feelings and send verbal affirmations and encouragement to her. In one of the very first recordings, I walked out on my deck and began to share what I saw and heard. I realize now that the Universe guided me to use the energy of nature to comfort her. To this day she continues to thank me and encourage me to use my gift in this way for others.
The Energy of our Spirit
It is not hard to believe that our energy is a reflection of our spirit. I believe children have a lot of different types of energy. They often have “imaginary” friends perhaps because their spirit is still open to the Universe in totality and has not been tainted by norms and stereotypes. They can laugh, run and jump without abandon! That energy projects onto us and helps us remember that time in our own lives. As I’ve continued the journey and grown older I feel a deeper reconnect to the Universe. My experiences, trials, and triumphs have become a part of my spirit. I can now project energy in a manner to effortlessly serve others for which I remain humbled and grateful!
