Endorphin Rush

How can I make you feel?

Source: Free-Images.Com

That’s a rather loaded question, isn’t it? How can I make you feel?

But, as I struggle to crawl out of the mental dumpster that has been my particular “new normal,” I decided that it’s time to do an about-face. It’s time to help myself by helping my friends here who might be feeling like they’re carrying the weight of this effed-up world on their shoulders.

In other words, it’s time we all had a good laugh. The kind that makes us snort like wild donkeys. With tears running down our eyes and snot trickling from our noses.

Hey — no shame, right? Who’s going to see? I’m sitting here in a pink sweatshirt with a spot on the front and baggy “clown pants.” So I’m fairly certain that the “giving a damn how we look” ship has sailed.

So, how can I make you feel better? “Good,” even?

What can I do to light you up and illuminate those feel-good hormones known as endorphins?

As you’ve been so generous about reading my rants, it’s only fair that I attempt to stir up some fun for the people who, aside from my husband, our cats, and my sister’s family, give me a reason to get up every day?

That would be you, gang. And you can bet your ass there’s going to be a prompt at the end of this.

When I was working, my colleagues in the creative department would alleviate some of the boredom of crafting shit for shitty clients by sharing some of our favorite YouTube videos.

One of us would start snickering and that would set off a whole row of cubes because as you know, laughter definitely is contagious. Just like COVID-19, except this type of contagion, we welcome.

I’m going to share a few of my favorites with you in the hope that they’ll give you a smile, or a laugh — a guffaw, even. None of these are new, by the way, but “funny” always stands the test of time.

Here’s one that cracks me up every time I watch it. It’s the first in a series by a guy known only as “Randall.” And he’s a treasure.

I give you the “Crazy Nastyass Honey Badger.”

Another rip-roarer (in my warped opinion, anyway), is this video by a comedy team known as “The Lonely Island,” featuring SNL’s Andy Samberg, along with Jorma Taccone and Akiva Shaffer.

Here’s hoping you enjoy:

Now, do you remember that exercise gizmo that came out a few years ago, called the “Shake Weight?” The thing that did absolutely nothing for you?

Check out this hilarious SNL spoof. If this doesn’t give you a laugh, you may have expired. You know I”m kidding. But my sometimes-sophomoric-soul loves it.

As an advertising copywriter, I’ve always appreciated this piece by the brilliant George Carlin:

“Advertising and Bullshit”

And here’s another from the master, focused on the words food advertisers use to entice us to buy their goods. WARNING: R-RATED, so get the kiddos out of the room.

“Funny” is subjective, certainly, but I hope at least one of these videos brightened your day, if only for a few minutes.
