KTHT DECEMBER WRITING PROMPT
Emotional Spring Cleaning Can Be Accomplished All Year Round
What Are You Waiting For?

As I move out of 2021 and think about how I want to embrace 2022, I have some major emotional spring cleaning to do. You see, we (my husband and I) shut down our business a year ago because of COVID. Then we made a major move across the country. We’ve been in our new home for eight months but being in survival mode doesn’t always allow you to breathe and do the emotional spring cleaning.
I realize I need to sweep the bitterness out the front door of my heart and allow the light to creep into the crevices of darkness.
I realize I want to create space for goodness and light, so I need to mop up the residue of pain in my marriage. Healing comes when we reconcile and forgive. It’s ok to say, “I’m sorry” and “I forgive you.” In fact, it can be the ax that shatters the glass of bitterness.
I recognize the stress still lingering in my body. I want to face it head-on and move into more meditation. I know when I spend more time meditating or contemplative prayer, my heart, soul, and mind are happier — and so are the people around me!
I recently read a post from Kelley Suzuki about minimalism and how it’s not only reshaped her life but her thoughts.
When we let go and get rid of emotional heaviness, we allow the sweetness of life and relationships to penetrate our soul that automatically move us into a posture of healing. And, as Kelley also states, it helps us do more of the things that are life-giving rather than tasking.
Sometimes, it’s the material things that are attached to heaviness.
So, Yana Bostongirl, thanks for the nudge to use December to embrace the goodness and let go of the baggage. I hope to usher in 2022 with light, love, and grace so that my days ahead can be life-giving.
