Emergence
The Watcher Patiently Awaits

The circular sail sweeps around the sun revolving to reveal the shelter of the watching one.
She extends her leathered wings their veins and pleats flare open wide.
Strings of dander woven in mesh are drawn along the thinly feathered spines.
Her eyes flick wide at movement on the edges of the world where stillness is required.
Her mind reaches out to grasp the offending ship. She binds it tightly in a web of circuitry.
A blinding light performs the rite combining all to one. The fiery blast her sole diversion in the field.
The task complete she stretches her wings. They accordion then billow into place.
The others sealed in chrysalides sleep in graves of blackened stone.
Patience waits the turning of the wheel to split the shells enclosing them.
Settling in the watcher waits.
