Embracing Autumn
The soft caress of fallen leaves
I came across a stranger’s yard, while taking a walk on a crisp autumn morning.
The sight was pretty as a postcard, and nostalgia filled me without warning.
To see the brightly colored leaves, in hues of yellow, red, and orange, fallen from the branches of the trees, they have reached the end of their voyage.
I ponder over the changes that come with the autumn fall, the bare trees and the approaching cold, these changes — whether big or small, are necessary for the story to be told.
And in my embrace, the autumn I hold, I wait for the next chapter of life to unfold.
According to an old superstition, when a person catches a falling leaf during autumn good luck will come to them.
Go forth my friends and embrace the season.
May a leaf fall upon you.
