Embrace Them — Traditions In The World

In the world, there are different kinds of traditions and every country has its own traditions too.

Everyone knows Christmas but in The Netherlands we have Sinterklaas. Everyone knows Halloween, but burping after your dinner in China lets you know someone liked the dinner. Here you see, every country and every culture has its own traditions.

Some traditions we participate in as well as we have them too, but some of them are even not appropriate in other cultures. We all have to appreciate the values of a culture and take action towards it when we are around people from that culture or when you are in that country.

When I go traveling (not that much) then I always read a little bit about the cultures and traditions in that country/area before I am heading towards the country or area. So I don’t be that surprised. When you are there and you don’t know, ask the locals. They're happy to tell you about their culture. I also want something learning there too.

Embrace the diversity

When you embrace the culture, this culture will be intact as much as possible. There will be differences when families are doing this tradition, but that is fun to learn more about.

In these days, we always look at what people do different and don’t see it as a beautiful thing, but more as if we don’t belong to one another. Then we don’t look at each other in the eyes but look back. And I think we should embrace the differences. We can learn from them. When you put the differences in your heart, you will become a more fulfilling human being. You know more about the world and about people and their behaviors. Why they do certain things.

We — The Netherlands — have so many different cultures, just like the USA. That is history too. But some people deny we have or don’t want that their country takes any more migrants into their country. People do believe that they won’t be their personality anymore. That they won’t be that culture as it was before but listen to me: we all were migrants once. In the past we have been moving around the world a lot, looking at what the world offers to us. Maybe you are descent from a world traveler from generations back. They’ll teach you so much about life. These are not in your school books.
