Summary

Elon Musk has expressed pessimism about Ukraine's chances in the ongoing conflict with Russia, suggesting a negotiated settlement while criticizing Ukraine's military strategy and the West's approach to the war.

Abstract

Elon Musk has made a series of controversial statements regarding the Russia-Ukraine war, asserting that Ukraine has little chance of success and that Odessa will likely fall to Russian forces. He has maintained communication with President Putin and limited Ukrainian use of Starlink technology for military operations. Musk has criticized Ukrainian military tactics, suggesting that their counteroffensives against Russian fortifications are futile. He has also called for the U.S. to cease military aid to Ukraine and has advocated for Ukraine to focus on defense rather than counterattacks. Musk's comments have sparked debate, with some viewing his stance as supportive of Russia, despite his acknowledgment of the brutality of Russian occupation and the challenges faced by the Russian military.

Opinions

  • Musk believes Ukraine's military strategy is ineffective and that their attacks on Russian positions are a "tragic waste of life."
  • He has implied that continued resistance by Ukraine is not strategically sound, given the strength of Russian fortifications.
  • Musk has suggested that the U.S. should halt military assistance to Ukraine, potentially due to America's own economic constraints.
  • He has expressed that a negotiated settlement is the best outcome for the conflict, despite acknowledging the difficulty of such negotiations given the stark differences between Russian and Ukrainian objectives.
  • Musk has noted that while Russia may not be able to take all of Ukraine due to local resistance, the fall of Odessa would put Moldova at risk and significantly impact Ukraine's economy.
  • He has criticized the effectiveness of Western sanctions and political pressure on Russia, indicating that they have little influence on Putin's decisions.
  • Musk has pointed out the demographic challenges facing Russia, suggesting that the war could lead to significant demilitarization of the Russian military.

Elon Musk: Ukraine Stands No Chance. Odessa To Soon Fall.

“No Way” Russia Losses This War, He Noted.

One of the most iconic person in the United States has spoken, and made interesting claims, claiming that Ukraine’s fall is just a matter of time. However, he explained that Russia won’t have it easy, either. And has(Russia) an impossible task ahead of itself.

Elon Musk, maintained close ties with president Putin since the war begun. When Ukrainians were asking for Elon’s Starlink, he agreed to send them, and so he did. Later, it turned out that he won’t give Ukrainians full allowance to use its technology.

When Ukrainians wanted to launch an attack on Russian navy located in the Black Sea, as to conditions were right. Elon Musk refused to allow this Ukrainian operation against Russian navy, by affecting their access to internet. Ukrainian armed forces expressed their disappointment in Elon’s way of thinking.

Because of his decision, not only more people lost lives in Ukraine, because of Russian aerial attacks. But this, also, made evidently known on what side Elon Musk is standing on.

Elon Musk in an open discussion has said a month back, the following words:

No Way in Hell (When referring to Putin losing the war in Ukraine)

Yet, he is the same individual who encouraged United States to stop sending military aid to Ukraine. Truthfully speaking, United States has done more for Ukraine than any other nation has done, in terms of military assistance. Some speculate that America’s debt is standing in the way of providing more resources for Ukrainian military.

Interestingly, Elon Musk on his platform, X, has dedicated a whole post to discussion about the war in Ukraine, and some of the comments he made were truly unexpected.

Elon Musk started by saying:

It was a tragic waste of life for Ukraine to attack a larger army that had defense in depth

According to Elon’s logic, Ukrainians should have never fought back, and struck Russian defense lines, which they later fortified. According to Reuters, Russian fortifications built across Eastern and Southern part of Ukraine are extremely hard to break through, and to overcome.

When Ukrainian military, made a limited advancement in the South, by breaking through a small part of Russian defense line, Russian military later fortified, and made another big trench not that far from the breach.

Making it nearly impossible for Ukrainians to break through, at the rate by which they are fighting. Strangely enough, Elon suggested that Ukrainians shouldn’t have launched attacks at Russian positions, which they fortified. Yet, Ukrainian forces launched the attack, to not allow Russian to dig in deeper, and to fully prepare their defense posts.

When Russia invaded Ukraine, Russian military was losing hard. And I truly mean it. Russian Spetznaz forces were eliminated around the outskirts of Kyiv, during Russian offensive. Yet, all of this was happening when Russian forces haven’t dug deep in Ukrainian territory.

It was then that Ukrainian attacks begun to fail, as Russian military built trenches, and Ukrainian plans of breaking through became nearly impossible. According to Elon’s logic, Ukrainians should have given up, and allowed Putin’s rule to overcome the whole nation.

Everyone has already seen and heard of the way Ukrainians are treated in occupied regions. Thousands of war crimes were committed by Russian troops. I am glad Ukrainian military did not follow Elon’s words, and fought back, even though having much smaller military. Yet, this war has shown that Russian military, despite having high quantities of personnel, is still limited, mostly because of lack of serious military training.

Elon, later noted:

My recommendation a year ago was for Ukraine to entrench and apply all resources to defense.

Strangely enough, this is exactly what Ukrainian military did. They created trenches, around key cities of Ukraine, and fought back, with the best resources and capabilities they had. For instance, the same happened in Bakhmut, and Avdiivka. Two large, and key battles took place in those cities, and yet in two of these cities, Ukrainian forces were entrenched.

Yet, the way Russian military attacked Ukrainian positions, was too hard to hold off. Sending troops to Ukrainian positions, in meat grinding tactics, allowed Russia to win, by also having an artillery advantage. While the politicians in Europe were arguing on what to do, Ukrainians were fighting for the survival of their homeland. Russia had a great advantage, Putin says something, and it becomes the reality. While European officials, are always arguing, disagreeing, on what to do, which wastes too much time.

By the time Russia resupplies its military in Ukraine, only then two weeks later do European politicians reach an agreement, by sending certain type of aid to Ukraine… European officials are still worried that they can provoke Russia even more. Putin has installed fear into so many people…

There is no chance of Russia taking all of Ukraine, as the local resistance would be extreme in the west — Elon noted.

Elon does not even mention Ukrainian military in this section of the comment, rather, he referrers to Western political opposition, which would put strain on Russia? Right… Since when putting political pressure on Putin, and Russian government has done anyone any good? The answer is never. Putin does not care about what the Western people think, all he cares about is his “homeland”. During Soviet Union, Russians used the word “homeland” when referring to their nation. Putin is doing the same.

By the time Russia takes Ukraine, which is an impossible task, based on the way Russians are fighting. Russian military would fail to be recognized as 2nd strongest in the world. And would be largely demilitarized by this conflict.

if the war lasts long enough, Odessa will fall too. — Elon’s statement.

Ukraine’s only way to access Black Sea is through Odessa, if it falls, Moldova becomes in danger, as Russian separatists would unite, and put the other part of the nation at risk. But speaking of Ukraine, Ukrainian government makes fortunes using Black Sea as a way to export its grains.

Ukrainian military uses its water drones from the ports of Odessa, they need to have access to this city, in order to effectively affect Russian warships. Their loses, always been recognized as being serious for the Russian navy.

Unless Russia gains incredible source of revenue, and overcomes Western sanctions, then Russia will be able to fuel their attacks further in Ukraine, including in Odessa. But this is unlikely scenario. Ukrainians have fortified the city. Russia would never regain its strength, by taking over Ukraine, their population growth has been in decline for numerous years, already.

I recommend a negotiated settlement — Elon Musk

President Putin wants Ukraine to acknowledge Russian occupied lands. While Ukrainian government wants to retake all lands, and free the oppression of the nation. Two nations uphold drastically different values, negotiations have already failed hard. And even if they succeed, it is unlikely Russia would leave Ukraine at peace. There would always arise direct conflicts later on.

Russia violated Baltic air space all the time, before the war in Ukraine was launched. Yet, people think Russia will stop and become peaceful even if two parties come to an agreement. Unlikely, based on the history of how Russia deals with other nations. Georgia itself is partly occupied, and Russia turned it into a Russian military naval port…
