Elon Musk Recently Gave a Glimpse of How His Brain Works

How he thinks and how you can apply it

Few people sharply divide opinions with precision as well as Elon Musk does. And even fewer people entertain — and dare speak — about their super audacious goals than Elon Musk.

Yes, while some of those lofty claims, those outrageous forecasts, have hit the bullseye, many others have been wildly off the mark. But then, who has a perfect scorecard in life? You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone.

If you’re going to make it big, you might as well think big most of the time. And Elon certainly thinks big, way too big for some people.

In a recent TED talk, he opened up about how his brain works as far as his thinking process goes. Well, he didn’t really volunteer that information: the host quizzed him on it, and he let the audience — and millions more — in on some of his little secrets.

An obsession with the truth

It’s fair to say many of Elon Musk’s views are a bit leftfield: no, totally different from how many of us think. His routines are weird to most people; his lifestyle isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, not least the 80 to 100-hour workweeks.

Everyone describes him with different adjectives. And he truly lives a different life than many of us. But he shares one excellent trait with many other people: he loves the truth.

Actually, he said he’s obsessed with the truth. And to feed that obsession, he said he’s gone about finding the truth by asking questions. Isn’t that one of the first steps anyone could take?

He said he’s asked many questions related to the universe and humanity, deep questions like what’s the universe and why we’re here. But it doesn’t end there.

He also asks about the meaning of life itself. To find answers, he’s turned to books to feed his brain. Books on philosophy, religion and the galaxy have been some staples he feeds his brain often.

Maybe that is one thing we can all learn from him. We can go from loving the truth to obsessing about the truth at all times.

Instead of playing baby bird with our eyes shut and our mouths open to be fed just about anything, it’s better to learn to find the truth ourselves.

The truth is light; the truth is liberating. And you can’t afford to keep yourself in the dark. Find the light. Always be willing to search for the truth.

Always fighting for the things that make us excited about the future.

Elon Musk says he fights for the things that get him excited about the future. For him, some of these things are sustainability, artificial intelligence, and life beyond our planet.

And he’s been evidently championing various causes that push those agendas.

Again, some of his views on those topics fly in the face of common sense. It’s safe to say many people are, at best, adopting a wait-and-see approach on that. But you can take a leaf from his big playbook.

Do you have a dream of the future, your future? Or at least what you’d want your life to look like a few years from now? I know it’s tough enough for some people to handle the present as is, let alone think about the future. Or even get excited about it.

But you have every right to dream of a better future than the present or past. And it’s not outrageous to find a few things that get you excited about the future and fight for them.

Is it a healthier body, a happier one, or life in a serene neighborhood far removed from the bustle of the city and busyness of the modern-day? Start fighting for those things that get you excited about your future.

You could end up with a big W.

I realize Elon Musk isn’t everyone’s superhero. And no one is. Like everyone, he has his flaws. Again, who doesn’t? And like many ultra-wealthy people in society, maybe he could do even more to help make the world a better place.

With those caveats out of the way, history will also look upon him as an inspiration for many people. And one way to get to learn more about someone like Elon Musk is to pay attention to his thought process.

Some of his values of dreaming big and embracing a mind-boggling work ethic could be the perfect kick up the back that helps some people get a hold of life.
