Elon Musk Is Making His Views Known about Money
Do people listen to him because he is a billionaire?
The Tesla founder is becoming more outspoken
One of the richest people in the world is Elon Musk. Sometimes he is the designated as the wealthiest person by Forbes. Perhaps he is now. He seems to trade places lately with Jeff Bezos for that position.
Being so rich, he must know a lot about money. He is sharing some of his opinions about it now.
Do people listen to Musk because he is a billionaire who knows how to make plenty of money or do they listen to him because he knows how to make noise? Maybe many people don’t listen to him, but others do.
Lately Musk has said that the recession is a good thing.
Mary Papenfuss wrote an article for The Huffington Post with the title: “Elon Musk Says He Welcomes Recession So Money Stops ‘Raining’ Down On ‘Fools’.”
Saying that he welcomes a global recession, Musk posted his comment in a Tweet. It was in response to a question about what his attitude is about a possible recession which may be coming.
Musk, of course, would not consider himself a fool with money although there are those who would disagree. The article mentioned that critics of Musk have pointed out that Musk has been the recipient of millions of dollars in tax breaks and a large government loan along with other support. It appears that money has been raining down on him to make him even more wealthy.
The federal stimulus package in 2009 apparently gave Tesla a $465 million loan. The Los Angeles Times estimated in 2015 that Musk’s company had benefitted from $5 in government support.
The article further stated:
In an added dig, the self-awareness-challenged Musk accused people who have been stuck working remotely because of the pandemic of now being under the delusion that they “don’t actually need to word hard.” He chuckled: “Rude awakening inbound!”
Musk figured in his tweet that a good recession would last up to 18 months so “negative cash flow” resource-gobbling enterprises can “die” — apparently forgetting that it took Tesla nine years to post its first annual profit.
Musk is said to have grown up as a child being bullied. He showed his bullies that he could make it. He became super-wealthy. As someone who has experienced mean-spirited actions against him, it seems that he would be more understanding of others who may be struggling. A recession is sure to hurt many people.
He doesn’t need to call people “fools” as it is like a bullying tactic. He may be following in the footsteps of some people he seems to have come to like who act in that manner.
