Elon Musk Is Creating His Own Social Media Platform

Why the Real-Life Tony Stark Is Stirring up Controversy Again

Elon Musk is a man who needs no introduction. He’s a visionary entrepreneur who has disrupted multiple industries.

While you can simply watch, read, or listen to the latest news broadcasts — Elon Musk’s fans and critics often turn to Twitter for first-hand news about the tech mogul’s latest creations. Amassing close to 80 million followers at the time of writing, he has become one of the most popular and spoken-about persons on the platform.

Over the course of 10 years, Musk has tweeted over 15,000 times, delivering his unfiltered opinion on several topics — most related to his own companies, cryptocurrencies, and politics.

Even though Musk is known for being an avid Twitter user — he recently tweeted a series of controversial thoughts on the social media platform. Starting with the following poll, questioning the integrity of Twitter’s adherence to free speech.

Later adding, “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”, the tweet gained traction — collecting over two million votes.

As you can see, a large number of voters didn’t support the Twitter platform.

One day after the initial poll, Musk gave the following comment on the results.

Stating that something should be done about Twitter “failing to adhere to free speech principles” since it “fundamentally undermines democracy”.

At least that’s the opinion of the majority of the people who voted. Whether this is a valid representation of the opinion of all Twitter users, is open for discussion.

It seems safe to say Musk is fed up with the censorship and lack of free speech on Twitter. Furthermore, he’s aggravated by the thought of Twitter not being open about the algorithm they use to promote certain tweets over others.

So, what needs to be done?

According to Musk himself, social media users are in desperate need of a new platform. And surprisingly, the users of Twitter are on the same page as the real-life Tony Stark since the tweet collected over two-hundred-fifty-thousand likes in only 16 hours!

Is Musk Creating the Next Top-Of-The-Line Social Media App Himself?

Only a couple of hours ago, a fan asked Musk if he was serious about creating a new social media platform, to which he replied that he’s, “giving serious thought to this.”

So, while it’s certainly true that he has hinted at wanting to create a Twitter replacement, there are no official statements yet.

Whether you love or hate Elon Musk, you have to admit that he is a game-changer. And him launching a new social media platform would potentially be one of the most talked-about launches of the year.

So stay tuned and see what Musk has in store for us next.

Edit; Turns out he did not create his own social media platform and decided to buy a stake in Twitter — follow up story can be found here:
