Summary

Elon Musk's investment in Twitter raises concerns about future changes that could impact creators' strategies and the platform's simplicity.

Abstract

Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, has made a significant investment in Twitter, a platform widely used by creators for audience building and sales. This investment has sparked discussions about potential shifts in the platform's algorithm and operational ethics, which could lead to a more profit-driven environment. Creators like Coach Raj and writers are currently benefiting from Twitter's simplicity and features such as the #writerslift hashtag and "what's happening" board for content ideas. However, there is an anticipation that Musk's influence could lead to a more ad-laden and complex Twitter, necessitating creators to adapt their strategies to maintain visibility and earnings. The article encourages readers to enjoy Twitter's current state and consider the potential need to adjust to future changes.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter shares could signal a shift towards a more profit-oriented platform, potentially at the expense of its current user-friendly nature.
  • There is a sense of urgency for creators to leverage Twitter's current simplicity and limited advertising before the platform evolves under Musk's leadership.
  • The author implies that Musk's ambitions for Twitter might start with democratic and ethical ideals but could eventually focus on monetization, which may not align with the interests of all users.
  • The article expresses that creators should take advantage of Twitter's present state to build their audience and make sales, as future changes might require more content and a larger follower base to remain relevant.
  • The author encourages readers to support writers and the writing community on Medium by becoming members, emphasizing the mutual benefits of such a membership for both writers and readers.

Elon Musk: A Threat to this Money-Making Platform

Enjoy it while the platform is still simple.

Elon Musk, the richest man on the planet, recently spent $1.4 billion on shares.

Not any ole shares, Twitter ones!

For years, creators have been using this birdie app to build an audience.

Then make sales.

But when changes happen on the back-end of social media networks, other elements get updated. Soon after, the platform’s algorithm gets a shake-up as well. Many creators like Coach Raj (my fitness favorite) make Twitter an integral part of their marketing approach.

Writers like me and you benefit from the #writerslift hashtag. Plus, you and I can use the “what’s happenings board” for Newsbreak story ideas:

If you haven’t started benefiting from Twitter, begin soon.

Elon Musk might want “democracy” on the platform now. Or might begin by seeking an ethical approach to how the app operates. But later, his ambitions may become profit-focused.

And that means one more network for you to adapt to and change your strategy. One more app where you need tons of content or followers to remain relevant and maintain your earnings.

Enjoy Twitter while the app is simple and free of much advertisement content.

Thank you for reading!
