Either way, we’re all screwed up

Before dawn lights up the room, I always sit by the dining table with a box of my favorite cereal and ponder. Pondering over how the world is crumbling, not literally, of course.

Such a dark thing to envisage, you might say. But to look around, and find the human revolution in such unrest. To think of the 21st-century technological advancement, industrialization, all the cool gadgets of technology, and the list goes on. You gaze and realize that hell, we are immersed in a world with technology embedded deep in it.

In no way am I complaining about the illimitable boundaries of technology, but I am complaining about polar contrasts. Sounds weird, eh. But think. Think how in this present society, where YOU probably are under a roof, with cleaning facilities, waste disposal systems, clean drinking water, and hot dinners all at the snap of the finger. These might seem like the bare minimums, but they are things that some people can only imagine having. Whilst you’re sitting in leather sofas watching some horrible Netflix series, some families might be out there in uncontrolled blizzards or scorching deserts trying to find livelihood; to bring nothing but shredded chicken or dirtied leftovers to the dinner table. For what seems as a “middle-class life” to you seems like royalty to them. So next time you think about throwing that plate of lettuce away, think about these people and how they struggle to obtain goods that you simply can just discard at will.
