Summary

The author emphasizes the importance of faith in Christian doctrine, contrasting the eternal fate of believers with that of non-believers as described in the Bible, particularly the concept of the 'lake of fire' or hell.

Abstract

The text reflects on the centrality of faith in Christianity, which involves believing in a good God as revealed in the Holy Bible. The author points out that dismissing Christian beliefs about eternal life may overlook the core aspect of Christian faith. The author also contemplates the stark contrast between the destinies of believers, who are promised immortal bodies, and non-believers, who face judgment in the 'lake of fire.' This contemplation leads the author to affirm their faith, finding the biblical descriptions of eternal suffering too compelling to ignore, and thus choosing to embrace their Christian beliefs to secure their eternal fate.

Opinions

  • The author suggests that it is mistaken to laugh at Christians for their beliefs in eternal life, as this is a fundamental tenet of their faith.
  • There is an emphasis on the belief that non-believers will face judgment in hell, described as a 'lake of fire,' which is mentioned multiple times in the Book of Matthew.
  • The author finds the idea of a spirit suffering eternally in the 'lake of fire' to be a powerful deterrent, reinforcing their commitment to their faith.
  • The author expresses a personal surrender to these beliefs, deciding not to gamble with their eternal fate based on the contrasting destinies described in Christian eschatology.
  • The text concludes with an affirmation of the author's faith, praising the Lord, indicating a strong personal conviction in the truth of Christian teachings.

I think you may have missed my point. You can laugh at Christians not knowing what’s the meaning of external life but in fact that’s the central point of faith by believing the good God who reveals Himself in The Holy Bible. On the other hand, if you don’t compare the judgment in the ‘lake of fire’ (or hell) for non-believers, then you should have missed at least half the truth. For me, when I imagine how can a spirit (no more physical body described for non-believers in contrast of immortal bodies for believers) survive in the ‘lake of fire’ weeping and gnashing of teeth eternally (6 times mentioned by Jesus in The Book of Matthew), I surrender. The contrast is too great. Why should I bet my eternal fate? Praise the Lord.
