Setting Up Your Account

Once you are approved to write for Constant Content, you can join an Expert Group based on your experience, or qualifications. The Expert Group content generally sells for more as it’s considered expert-level content.

The Catalog

The catalog is where you can submit articles for sale in any niche. You’ll need to follow the guidelines Constant Content provides when uploading your document. Once you upload your article, you can submit it to the editorial team for approval. This can take up to five days.

Once you are an approved writer, you’ll be able to access a list of recent catalog sales. These include your sales and the sales of others. You can gain insight on pricing, niches, and topics to create articles around.

Understanding Licenses

You can choose to license your content in a variety of ways, including full rights, usage, or uniqueness. The license type is set by the writer. If you want to sell an article multiple times, you’ll need to set it as a usage license. Generally speaking, full-rights licensed articles are more expensive, yet give the buyer full control over the article.

Full Rights License

With this license, the client has full and exclusive rights to do whatever they want with your work after purchase. They can change the article, remove the author byline, add links, make themselves the author, and even resell the article. A full rights article can only be sold one time, and not reproduced to sell to others.

Usage License

Content that is written under a usage license can be sold to many buyers. While they can only use the article one time, you can sell it to more than one buyer. The buyer can’t change the content, add links, or remove the author’s byline. They are using the content for the sake of publishing, but can’t “make it their own”.

Unique License

When someone purchases an article that has a Full Rights License, they get exclusive use of the content. Once you sell it to a buyer, you can’t sell it again to another buyer. In this case, however, the buyer is limited as to how they can use the content. They can’t add or edit words, remove the writer’s byline, or post to websites they do not own.

Access Level

Your Access Level determines whether you qualify for Targeted Requests.

Your level of access is determined by a variety of criteria, including the number of articles you’ve had accepted, editorial feedback, attention to deadlines, and profile completeness. Improving your Access Level is easiest if you submit high-quality, error-free content on a regular basis.

Type of Requests

Private and public writer requests are available on Constant Content. Public requests can be accepted by all writers whereas a private request or private pool will go only to the writers chosen by the client.

Public Requests

Constant Content allows customers to submit requests for articles from other writers. These demands are open to any writer on Constant Content. You may obtain access to these requests by going to your dashboard and selecting the Requested Content option.

You’ll need at least one published article in the catalog before you can accept requests.

A client will post their request, and expect a rapid response. You’ll need to be quick, and understand that others are responding to the request as well.

When a customer makes a request, they are looking for a specific type of article. You’ll want to take the time to read the request carefully before submitting a response. It’s important to understand what the client is asking for and make sure you can deliver before you submit your proposal.

Your response should be a brief, one-paragraph overview of what you can offer. This will let the customer know that you understand their request and gives them an idea of what to expect from your article.

They are likely to review your portfolio as well to see if you are a match.

Public Request Types

The buyer can post their request as a casting call, call for articles, or as a standing request.

Casting Calls

Casting calls are made by clients who need writers to apply for a specific project in order to see whether you’d gel. If you’re interested in casting calls, go ahead and fill out an application for the client by clicking the Apply button.

Call for Articles

Clients submit this kind of request when they ask all writers to submit articles for their topics. Simply attach your article or send the requestor a message. Articles that aren’t purchased are added to the catalog after three days.

Standing Requests

Constant Content’s standing requests are inquiries for articles generated based on what they believe will sell. They’ll issue standing requests when they need more content for certain categories in the catalog. Articles you submit for standing requests will be permanently added to the catalog.

Private Requests

When a client requests that you, personally, create content for them, it’s referred to as a private request. When your portfolio is well stocked, and your bio is well-written, you’ll be positioned to receive more private requests.

When receiving a private request, you’ll be able to accept or decline the work through messaging with the client.

Custom Requests

In your Account Settings, you may change your request settings. You won’t be able to get any requests if you make yourself idle. Custom request notifications are enabled if the available status is selected.

In order to be eligible to receive custom requests, you must have 1 or more articles accepted by the editors to achieve access level.

Writer Pool Requests

When a client makes an order, Constant Content will establish a “Writer Pool” to generate the request. It will create a “pool” or group of writers who match the demands submitted by a client and then make the request available to that group.

Targeted Requests

Clients submit Targeted Requests so that a writer with the required credentials will respond. Make sure your Education and Expertise and Areas of Expertise are accurate; those features are used to match you with clients’ Targeted Requests.

Expert Groups

If you’ve been accepted to write in an Expert Group, you’ll be able to claim these requests.

Project or Team Requests

Only those writers on the project’s team that the client has added will be able to claim these requests.

Writing For Projects

Clients often create projects when they need content on a regular basis. Clients can use the “My Projects” tool to share their needs, information, templates, files, requests, and other information with groups of writers.

Writers are added to the projects after a casting call and can apply to be a writer on the project. Once accepted, only the project’s writers can respond to the customer's requests.

You’ll be able to share files, access the project calendar, message the client, and respond to requests.

Pricing Articles

Pricing is always a difficult topic, but it’s important to get it right. You don’t want to price yourself out of work, but you also don’t want to sell yourself short.

When pricing your services, you’ll want to remember these three factors:

1. The time it takes you to write the article

2. How well you write

3. The quality of the article

Constant Content takes 35% of the sales price as their commission. You’ll earn 65% of the article’s sales price. If you list your article for $100.00, you would earn $65.00 when it sells. While pricing can be established however you see fit, many use the 10 cents per word formula.

Therefore, a 1000-word article could be listed for $100.00 if going by the 10 cents per word pricing model. When it sells, you’d get $65.00.

You can’t charge less than $7.00 for an article, and custom request pricing is set by the customer.

The first article that I sold was 1697 words long and sold for $75 earning me $48.75. It took 3 months to sell and was the only article in my portfolio at that time.

Earning Potential

The more you write, the more earning potential you have. Constant Content has established that about half of your articles will sell within 6 months. Writers earning the most money are often answering custom requests.

Payments are issued during the first week of the month as long as you have earned at least $5.00 since the last payment period. Payments are made via PayPal.

Writing Guidelines

When you first apply to become a writer with Constant Content, you will have to pass a short test that determines your English language abilities.

After that, it all comes down to quality unique content and formatting. They won’t accept poetry, first-person point of view articles, or fiction. You can’t include any personal promotion, active links, or author info.

They are strict at first, but once you learn the appropriate formatting, you’ll be getting approved quickly.
