Earn 100+ Medium Followers in 1 Day with 7 Simple Strategies

Sharing your innermost ideas with thousands of other people and receiving their unfiltered feedback in real-time can be intoxicating. Getting paid for that can make it all the more attractive for many to dedicate a significant part of their lives to writing on whatever subjects they feel most passionate about.
While Medium makes it relatively easy to get going with the first part, achieving the second often requires large investments of time, energy, resources, and opportunity costs. Only profiles with 100+ followers are eligible to become part of the Medium Partner Program, which pays authors based on content read by Medium Members. This creates a clear disadvantage for the novice writers, who are not compensated even if their stories go viral before they are part of the Partner program. It has also become an immediate concern for scores of smaller writers who were previously eligible for monetization, but are now getting cut off due to Medium policy changes.
It is time to democratize the Medium monetization process by tapping into the peer-to-peer support from one of the most enthusiastic segments of the Medium community. It can be achieved by engaging with those independent creators who are also feeling obligated to mutually contribute to your own success.
I’m talking about reimagining the “Follow for Follow” strategy for the Collaborative Era.

Usual F4F requires blindly following any and all Medium accounts that you come across. The idea is that some of those people will follow you back to repay the favor. A common criticism of this method is that your new followers will most likely have no interest in your content, and hence this will not lead to any genuine increase in your popularity.
We will move beyond that simple logic. We’ll effectively pre-screen a subsection of creators most focused on increasing the reach of their ideas. They are some of the writers that are either pressed to achieve the 100 follower monetization threshold, or established accounts eager to grow their audience. I’m labeling this approach F4F 2.0
Hundreds of followers can be earned by applying a set of 7 simple strategies that revolve around shared Medium spaces for like-minded people to connect with one another.
That means either finding or creating a post that is specifically focused on the F4F tactic, or one made in pursuit of the 100 monetizable followers. Next, you need to interact with that post in ways that will encourage other creators who come across it to follow you. Because you’ve effectively pre-screened the accounts that you will be following, the likelihood that they will follow you back is so close to 100% as to make it more than worth the effort.

It is easier to find an existing post than create and promoting your own from scratch. Here is my example that netted me 100+ followers within the first 12 hours. Once a post has been identified, simply proceed with one or all of the following 7 strategies:
1. Follow the author of the post. They will most likely follow you back.
2. Comment on the post. That will give others the opportunity to find and follow you.
3. Clap to the post. Other people can see a list of people who clapped and follow you.
4. Follow, clap and comment the people who commented or clapped to the original post.
5. Follow the people that the have recently followed, or been followed by, the original author.
6. Once that account pool has been exhausted, find another similar-type post and repeat.
7. If required, create your own F4F post with relevant tags (these are included in my linked post).
All of that ensures that you will only follow accounts that are already keen on earning new followers, which should make them feel more obligated to follow you back. Most importantly, you’re tapping into a community of like-minded overachievers looking to succeed in the competitive medium of Medium.
The only limitation to this approach is that Medium restricts the number of new accounts that you’re allowed to follow each day to 125.
In the first day of using the strategy, my content experienced a 4X increase in engagement metrics across much of my content. People have even subscribed to my personal publication and email notifications. The ensuing follow-backs are still trickling in, even after my 100 follower target was reached. My 2-minute satirical post made $6 on the first day that it was monetized.

I’ve also had many meaningful interactions with the people that I followed this way. There is often a feeling of joy and excitement at finding new readers to experience your content, and a happy realization that the F4F 2.0 method is really helping us achieve our mutual goals. I’ve come across many new fascinating topics and have been impressed by the diverse perspectives of the authors.
Plus, having so many follows can keep you far enough away from niches. I’ve even come across an idea that Medium created the 100 followers threshold to help bring people together and turn itself into more of a classic social network.
Now I’m considering ways in which I can further share the monetary benefits generated by this approach, perhaps by creating charitable paid articles and donating any associated earnings to specifics causes.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that this new and improved F4F 2.0 approach sets up tremendous opportunities for independent creators to attract an audience, monetize their content and generally succeed on Medium.
