E. 298
A fiction about an experiment on love, a wondrous feeling with the capability to kill.

A short story based on my interpretation of the MV of “Synesthesia Ghost” by Sananomaly [Link: https://youtu.be/gwyrPARCd8g] combined with a plot of my idea on loving someone.
I am the 298th experiment of a perfect human. I was created with looks just like them: brown eyes, rose-like lips, dark hair and a proportional body. The only thing different is that they gave me magic horns which purpose I did not know of. I was created to fight back and to eliminate the feeling they so called love. “Love is a feeling that has the potential to kill oneself” they once said. They wanted me to succeed, or at least give them a little sign that they were close to what they were trying to achieve. So they put me in a forest, to test the humanity in me.
I was running, amazement filling my body as I was chasing the birds in the sky. I happily threw myself to the ground, to a pile of colorful leaves. But soon, I realized that I was in an unfamiliar part of the forest. It was something that I had never seen before, the colors of the leaves that were all green had changed to a beautiful harmony of green, yellow and orange. Before I left, they told me that there would be a very different place than the forest I was placed in and that I was prohibited from entering. But, how could I resist such a beautiful place, where you could feel the sun in your skin and warmth everywhere. I walked around the area and saw a girl. It was my first time seeing a human-like creature in the forest. Her skin was dewy and her eyes were like the birds’ but even brighter. She was picking up leaves and branches, not flowers.
Looking at her gave me a feeling with no name, it spread throughout my body giving me the feeling of another kind of warmth. I tried starting a conversation with her. She quickly turned her head towards me with eyes that turned even bigger, she was startled. Without giving me any chance to say another word, she transformed into a bird and escaped from my sight.
When she left, my heart trampled to the ground and it became cold. My body yearned to be with her. There was a pounding in my head that mocked me, kept repeating the words “How can you be with her, when you’re just too different?”. So I wanted to be a bird. Suddenly, my magic horns glowed and it gave me the wings of the king of the birds. I followed her.
In the pursuit, she changed again into a rabbit, an animal of the land. I asked my horns to give me a few parts of an animal of the land, and it gave me a whole body of a horse. After an hour, she encountered a lake and shifted into a fish to swim across. Before I knew it, I was already bigger than I initially was. But I did not care, the pull towards wanting to be with her was bigger than the mass of my own body. As she shifted into different forms, I changed into different forms too but with implications.
I was then a fusion of a human, a bird, a horse, a fish, a deer, the sky, another human and even a planet. I had transformed myself into a monster, but all she did was kept on changing. I thought I was close to reaching her since she was always right in front of me. But I was wrong. Now, while she turns back into a human, I am crumbling into pieces with her back staring right at me. The parts that I had added to myself are now falling one by one to the ground, representing my tears that could not escape my eyes.
As the last added part starts detaching itself from me, I fall roughly to the ground following its lead. My body, unable to move. What is left of me is my old human-like body, number two hundred and ninety-eight. I think this is what they were trying to tell me. The potential of killing oneself only because of love. The feeling was so immense that I did not realize that what I have been feeling is love.
I lay here on the ground while drops of rain start touching my ruptured body.
I should have listened to them who gave me my life instead.
After a while, numbness took control of my body and there is loud silence everywhere.
