Dusk of Wolf Light
The search to find ourselves in life’s dark forest

I heard the hollow drumming from the pale beech on the mound echoes in an empty sky, I followed into dripping forest through tangled roots and windfall and soon lost my way
A light gleamed from off far sunlit dew glistened as a bright north star and soon its shine led me out emerging on a plain with mountains at the edge and clouds threatening rain
Soaring up high in sacred evening light the wings of mourning dove glow ivory, lavender, fading rose, a luminous sunset flight
And it came to me as the sky turned down, What is life without a quest? Onward searching without rest
I set off again with freshened step the mind is willing the soul is free land stretches as far as I can see
Somewhere ahead in the great open flat where the future lives and the past looks back, you may find me there in the quick of hastening night crossing wide plains in the dusk of wolf light
