Dreams, Soulmates, and Finding Your Way
When do we stop looking?
I’m happy. Like, really happy. I have the most amazing boyfriend — a man I could only have dreamed of before. He’s perfect for me, and he makes even the toughest days feel worth it.
It took ages to get here. I had my share of rough relationships. To be honest, I didn’t fully believe in the whole “soulmate” concept. I thought it was a fairy tale. But now? I feel incredibly lucky to have found mine.
Sometimes I wonder how I landed such a fantastic partner after a long streak of, well, less than stellar choices. Back then, I approached relationships like jobs — as stepping stones. I never fully committed.
Those days are behind me. In this relationship, I seek growth, and I’m one hundred percent committed. We’re building a future together, and the thought of moving in with him gets me so excited! Our wedding day will be the best of my life. It’ll feel like it’s my first time getting married, only it will be so much better.
I wish I could say the same for my career. At 42, I’m still entering jobs with an exit strategy, never really building knowledge and expertise. It’s always been about getting the experience and then getting out — along with putting myself in less-than-ideal situations.
But this time will be the last. I’m here to gain the knowledge and grow. Part I know my boss believes in my ability to succeed where others have failed. So, this job is about more than just me; it’s about paying back those who’ve supported me.
This time I’m way outside my comfort zone, which is actually keeping me motivated and interested. It’s a relief to break free of boredom. I do wish the corporate environment was nicer, but I suppose that’s the trade-off. At least it’s my first (and last!) foray into the corporate world.
So, here’s to commitment, to me, my life, and my dreams. I know with effort, dedication, and self-love, I’ll achieve the financial freedom I crave. I’ll get to share it all with my incredible man by my side. Life truly is a blessing, and I’m so grateful for every new day. With time, I’ll be able to give back and help rescue dogs — they deserve love in this beautiful but sometimes cruel world.
We need to appreciate the bad to truly celebrate the good.
