Summary

James experiences a series of terrifying supernatural encounters in his dreams, culminating in a chilling transformation before his own reflection.

Abstract

James, a man seeking distraction through television on a sweltering night, is repeatedly plagued by a sense of being watched and suffers from sleep paralysis accompanied by disturbing visions of blood and a voice urging him to kill. Each dream transports him to an entity's altar where he is compelled to sacrifice a bound victim, feeling a connection to pure evil and experiencing a rush of power and ecstasy upon the act. Upon waking, James is horrified to find his own reflection replaced by the sinister yellow eyes of the entity, which taunts him with an inevitable surrender to its influence.

  • The entity is portrayed as the embodiment of all evil, with its yellow eyes symbolizing its pervasive and corrupting presence.
  • The story implies a struggle between human will and an overwhelming external malevolence, with the outcome seeming to favor the latter.

Dreams Of Blood And Yellow Eyes

By Jackson Stark

The night is long and hot as hell. The heat is in the air and feels like sweat soaking itself onto the body. James is in bed watching tv trying to stay cool without a care in the world. He switches from streaming service periodically unable to decide on what to watch. He relents and goes to the kitchen to get himself an ice-cold drink. Before the refreshing drink can touch his lips he feels a chill. Every hair on the back of his neck stands up like a soldier at attention and a feeling of fear sweeps over him. He is being watched, he can’t see them but he can feel them. This has happened for the past few nights. He has suffered from sleep paralysis and horrible dreams over these past 3 nights. He feels cold, he cannot move and a voice calls to him “Kill James Kill”As the voice speaks to him he feels blood. Wet hot metallic smelling blood, in his eyes, mouth, and nose, he is bathed in warm fresh blood. The vision always ends the same way, the only way to stop the blood is to appease the entity with blood. He enters the entity’s altar where a victim is waiting for him. He is bound and gagged on a stone table, he has porcelain white skin and piercing innocent blue eyes. He picks up the knife on the altar, it is long, sharp, and has the head of a demon upon the handle, it calls to him. As he picks up the knife a strange sensation fills him. He feels a power, power as if he is connected to all of the evil in the world, he likes it. The boy looks at him with fear in his eyes, he looks like prey that has just realized its time in this world is over. He raises the blade and as he does he sees the entity, it is indescribable. All he can see are sharp sinister yellow eyes and a smile with thousands upon thousands of razor-sharp teeth, it is as if he is looking at all of the evil that has ever existed and will ever exist. As he raises the knife he can feel the boy’s heartbeat in his hand, he is holding his life it belongs to him now. He thrusts the blade down and a feeling of ecstasy rushes into every corner of his body. James awakens, drenched in sweat and his heart racing like a jackhammer. It was just a dream he said aloud to himself. He walked to his bathroom to splash cold water on his face and calm himself down. As he washes his face and looks at his face in the mirror he is shocked to see that it is not his own. He is staring at a pair of sinister yellow eyes eyeing him with a piercing gaze. The voice fills his head again with a soft and eerily pleasant tone. You can’t resist me forever, soon the dreams will not be enough to satisfy the hunger.” How long could James ignore the yellow eyes?
