Dream Big

Be relentless

  • Dream big!
  • Chase your dreams!
  • Live the dream!

We’ve all heard of those phrases and more on dreaming for a bigger future. But what no one tells us is what it takes to actually accomplish those dreams?

When I think of “big dreams” or “chasing my dreams” — I think of a relentless pursuit. The bigger the dream, the bigger the action needed. The bolder you will have to be in order to make that happen.

That’s what it takes.

You have to be relentless in a way that you will stop at nothing until those dreams become a reality — a reality that you will start living.

Why is it then that many of us give up on our dreams?

I am going to share my thoughts on helping you make your dreams a reality. Nothing is impossible.

“Some people dream of success, while others wake up and work hard at it.”

— Napoleon Hill

Dreams

I remember as a young boy I dreamt of being a professional baseball player. I practiced hard and pushed to sharpen my skills. I’d picture myself hitting home runs in the big leagues one day with my Louisville Slugger baseball bat. Just like the legendary Derek Jeter on the New York Yankees.

That dream never came true as you would probably imagine. The thought of being a professional baseball player left me. It was no longer a dream or desire of mine worth pursuing. Through the years, though, I have had other dreams for my life.

With that being said, “I liked the idea of being a pro baseball player, but what I did not like was what it would take to get there.” The insane level of practice, hours put in, sweat, tears, and etc. that would be required was no longer appealing to me. I was okay with that as a result. The dream was a nice “idea” but not one that would become a reality.

“The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up.”

— Paul Valery

What it takes

As I got older, I developed new dreams. Dreams of getting married, having children, and a business career to support my family. I knew it would be hard work — hard work to find an extraordinary woman to marry (which I did if I might add), to have precious children together, and to support my family financially with a career that I would enjoy.

Needless to say, I made it.

I’m living the reality of my dreams.

I was willing to put forth the effort required and pursue relentlessly to make it happen. Over 10 plus years have gone by since then. I’ve been fortunate to excel in my career as an Account Executive in Nashville Tennessee. I have a beautiful family — an amazing wife, a little girl and boy.

It took an unbelievable amount of effort, but I did it. It was a dream worth pursuing. A dream come true, as they like to say. I made it simply because I never gave up. There were difficulties along the way, there is no denying that, but I knew I would overcome those obstacles.

I was relentless.

So can you.

“Being relentless means demanding more of yourself than anyone else could ever demand of you, knowing that every time you stop, you can still do more. You must do more.”

― Tim S. Grover

Don’t give up

What are your dreams?

What is the reality you want for your life?

Is it a dream worth pursuing?

How are you going to get there?

What do you need to do now?

Are you willing to be relentless?

Never give up on your dreams. Ask yourself, “Is this dream worth pursuing?” If the answer is yes, then go do it.

It will not happen overnight, but you will make it happen.

Also, do not fool yourself and end up living a life of false hope. I want you to really think about a dream, that if boldly acted upon, could become a reality for you. That’s a dream worth pursuing.

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.”

— Walt Disney
