Name those little dancing dots

Here’s A New Word, An Idea, and A Question.

A New Word

This is where I share a word that should already be in the dictionary.

Dotpause

: the little row of dots that you see when you start to type in a message, and your friend starts to type, and then you both erase your typing so that the other person can type.

// He stared at the dotpause, wondering what she was typing.

An Idea

If your phone can take time out between texts, how about you?

Taking time to reflect can have positive effects.

Pausing gives you time to clarify your thoughts and consider different perspectives. It lets you weigh your options. When you take time to think, you’ll make more informed choices.

You’ll be calmer. When you step back from a situation you gain perspective. That lets you approach challenges with a calmer mindset. It really helps in high-pressure situations.

When you understand your emotions and motivations, you’ll increase your self-awareness. That leads to better emotional management.

Taking time to reflect gives you a chance to come up with more creative solutions. You can choose your words carefully, improving your communication skills.

Calm, quiet people tend to act and look more confident than people who rush to a solution. There is a place for quick decisions. The key is to strike a balance that works best for the situation.

A Question

If you were to take small time outs during your day, what would it look like?
