Why Happiness Is a Chemistry of Emotions
This is what the good doctor said
Patient: Doctor, Doctor for a long time I have been feeling beyond gross The good feelings I had are long gone and a former ghost
Can you help? I don’t know what to do What should I change to make my life improve?
Doctor: Ah, I am glad you asked I have just the remedy for you Take daily and you will no longer feel blue
Some advice I was given by a dear friend I am happy to share to help you make amends
Be sure to get your daily DOSE you will no longer feel morose To help you along your way, let me introduce you to four happiness friends If you cultivate and feed them By your side, they will always stay
Meet Dopamine who will motivate you to meet your goals and reward you with a pleasurable feeling in your soul.
Then there’s Oxytocin always present through human touch a functional creator of intimacy, and trust
Meet Serotonin she flows in abundance Her job makes loneliness and depression redundant Cherish her with gratitude and memories of achievement and you will be far removed from a feeling of bereavement
Finally, there is Endorphin an analgesic to pain and stress fueled by laughter, exercise, movement and no less.
She can leave you euphoric and on such a high vanquishing anxiety and pain in a blink of an eye
These are my happiness friends whom I care about the most encourage and nurture them and your well-being they will bestow
This poem is not intended to be a prescriptive one size fits or remedy for all, but rather an exploration of how our daily routines influence our happiness. By focusing on activities and lifestyle choices that maintain or increase the production of these neurochemicals. You are more likely to experience happiness.
