Doom Incoming
My poetic response to a prompt.

Why are you crying? Did you hurt someone? Did you lose someone? Did you lie to someone?
Are you brutal for the hell of it? Uncivil because you get away with it? Is “truth” an inconvenience? Are you our punishment?
Are we waiting for the Rapture? For the ecstasy of nothingness? The world is not dying. But we are.
“Everybody, watch him talk.” And talk and talk some more. He’ll lie until his orange face is blue. Lie to me, lie to you.
Welcome to the House of Doom. Contagion spreads to every room. I see you trying to lock the door. Don’t bother, there will always be more.
Thanks to Jimmy Doom and Xavier Van Holde for the prompt which was to write a poem using the words, below. All you TBI writers, get on it!
- brutal
- ecstasy
- welcome
- world
- uncivil
- dying
- inconvenience
- crying
- everybody
- trying
