Summary

The article encourages readers to focus on completing existing goals rather than setting new ones for the new year.

Abstract

The article highlights the common practice of making new year's resolutions, such as eating healthy, working out more, and starting a new business. However, it suggests that starting all over again every year is not always necessary and may indicate a lack of consistency and perseverance. Instead, the article challenges readers to continue working on their existing goals and use the momentum of the new year to complete them. The author encourages readers to avoid abandoning old goals just to set new ones and then abandon them a few months later.

Don’t Start Again Every New Year. Instead, Work On Completing What You’ve Already Started.

Every New Year, people all over the world make new year’s resolutions.

Some of the most common resolutions include eating healthy, going to the gym and working out more, losing weight, making more money, starting a new business, etc.

Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with making new resolutions and starting all over again.

However, starting all over again every time the clock strikes midnight every 1st January makes me wonder what happened to the previous year's resolutions?

Were you able to see your previous year’s resolutions through to completion?

For many people, year after year, the same resolutions are made every January, and then abandoned less than six months into the year.

Making New Year's resolutions has become a pointless feel-good ritualized activity that gets abandoned due to a lack of consistency and perseverance.

In 2022, I challenge you to continue to work on the resolutions you’ve already set for yourself in the previous years.

I challenge you to continue pushing towards the goals you set for yourself time and time again, and haven't had the discipline and consistency to see through.

The New Year doesn't always have to be about starting again, but about continuity.

You can harness the energy and momentum of the new year, to continue to work on achieving your already set goals.

Don’t abandon your old goals, just to set completely new ones and abandon them a couple of months from now.

Use the momentum of the new to complete the old.

May 2022 be the year you work consistently on achieving all your goals.
