Don’t Skip Mornings — They Can Set You Free
It’s easy to let mornings pass by
A doctor I know wakes up at 3.30 AM every day.
He takes his time to say his prayers, study and then embarks on a lovely stroll in the park.
The stroll is mostly about taking care of his health. But it also helps him network with fellow early risers- many of whom are leaders in his society.
By the time he goes back home, showers, and gets ready for his work, others in his house just start to get up.
That lifestyle allowed him to —
- Maintain his spirituality
- Network with influential people
- Keep himself healthy
- Have some me-time
- Stay in control of the pace of his day
Despite having a family history of Diabetics and high blood pressure, the doctor (in his 50s now) has no chronic disease.
By utilizing his mornings, he has set himself free.
Mornings are precious. Yet it’s easy to skip them by doing nothing. Let’s have a look at three reasons why you shouldn’t do that.
Mornings are flexibly yours
Unlike any other part of the day, you can do whatever you want in the morning.
There’s hardly any distraction. That wouldn’t be the case for any other part of the day.
The duration of your morning also depends on you. You can wake up at 4 or 7 or 10.
You’d never get this kind of flexibility in any part of the day either. Daytime is usually for work or study. Evenings for socialization or rest.
Mornings can be truly yours.
Mornings are like play dough
You are probably familiar with play dough- a putty-like substance that can take any form as per the wish & skills of the user.
Mornings are no different.
It can be an exercise hour where you spend time on yourself. It can be time to find ways to supplement your income. Or it can be time to read and learn.
It’s what you make of it.
Most other parts of the day have a predefined purpose. Mornings don’t.
That’s also a reason why people skip mornings.
If you don’t assign a purpose to your mornings, they might seem unnecessary as well.
Mornings signal who’s in control
What’s more empowering than spending time all by yourself and working on what you need?
Having a productive morning will set you up for a balanced-paced day.
Even if you don’t do anything after the morning, you’d still feel that empowering feeling throughout the day.
An early bird will be able to get a lot extra done. If you look at most of the successful people, they are all early risers.
Final thoughts- Just because it’s easy to skip mornings, don’t.
Of course, sleeping in is easier.
But does easy always mean what’s best for you?
Don’t skip mornings because you have the luxury.
Like that doctor, and many other people, take control of your life by making the morning a part of your day.
