Why Not to Rush Through Life

To succeed in this chaotic world

Photo by Daniel Monteiro on Unsplash

We all are sprinting in a fast-paced world. Bewildered to perceive what we actually want from life. Unconsciously we are becoming part of a rat race. Continuously seeking to survive in this competitive world.

We all are rushing to finish college. Then we attempted to secure a coveted job. To have a car, home, marriage, and kids…. — It’s an ongoing process. And lately, we acknowledge that we never actually lived. We regret that life was meant to be lived but we wasted it, being part of the rat race.

Although it’s not our fault in the first place. We all are conditioned that way since our childhood. Our parents, siblings, or professors have injected this idea that ‘life is like a race’. If we do not run fast enough, we will be crushed or left behind.

We are so involved in rushing through life that we feel guilty slowing down. We are afraid of leading a less luxurious life even if we don’t want it. We are constantly comparing our lives to others. For that reason, we all are chasing success.

But do you remember the last time you relaxed? …….Not really.

Because we are entangled in the vicious circle of speeding. We rarely stop and appreciate life and things around us. We are so pressured and anxious about being falling short, that we forget we should have gone at our own pace.

In the quest of crafting a life where we can live, we forget to live.

But here I am going to decipher certain reasons why you shouldn’t rush. Because we all are trapped in this hectic world.

Unhappiness

Whenever we rush through life, discontentment follows. We feel less indulged in the daily chores and act like a robot. It kills our ability to experience things and makes us less responsive to fundamental situations.

Eventually, we sense a deprivation to discover meaning in subtle aspects of life.

Zooming through life makes us miss valuable experiences and other meaningful moments. In addition, we forget to appreciate and make most of the each moment. And apparently, we lead an unfulfilling life.

Life’s beauty lies in the moments we savor. Rushing can plunder the simple moments of pleasure. While those are the moments we strive for.

So, it’s a masterful choice to stop for a while. And embrace all we have, rather than seeking the things we don’t need.

Stress and burnout

Most of us experience stress and burnout often due to busy lifestyles. We forget to take time for our mental and physical health. Because most of the time, we feel constant pressure to meet deadlines and specific benchmarks.

Which makes us neglect the self-care and work-life balance. Moreover, it causes severe stress and burnout.

Rushing through a series of tasks throughout the day degrades the quality of work. For which additional iteration would be required.

Slowing down a little and taking a step at a time enables us to pay attention to the details. Besides this assigning time for your mental well-being would be fruitful in the long run. Which ultimately cuts down your extra efforts and improves deliverables.

Unfulfilling relationships

By rushing through a series of events, we program our minds to speed. Due to that habit, we fail to establish a meaningful bond. Because we never actually communicate our needs and understand the other’s viewpoint.

And upon parting away we tend to blame others without collectively working for that relationship.

Because relationships are like a contract, we should put effort every single day to make things work out. But our hastiness withholds us to concentrate on such things.

Relationships are the foundation of a happy life. We as social creatures are built that way to survive in groups.

Focusing on such key ingredients of our life is phenomenal. Because ignoring the crucial elements in life is going to make us pay someday. That’s why prevention is better than cure.

Prioritize important things and figure out what matters. Reluctantly don’t be a part of race, which makes no sense to you.
