Don’t Make Reading An Extreme Sport

Developing a reading habit

I think the majority of people want to read books and enjoy them, but they give up out of laziness because we make reading a book a painful activity, we all do it.

The best way to eliminate pain is consistency. If you want to read a book every day, you should read a book every day. Our body listens to us and acts according to us. If you say you are going to read a book every day and you pick up the book, you will succeed. So far there is no problem.

However,

there will be days when we will say "I will not read today". It is an obvious attack on consistency. When we feel this way, at first our conscience will try to prevent us and warn us not to break the chain. If we ignore it and break the chain, the next day our conscience will try to reassure us that there is no harm in breaking the chain and we develop anti-habit.

So how can we create this consistency? Here are my observations:

1) Don't make reading books a big deal

Don't make big preparations before you start reading a book. Like making coffee, getting under the blanket, warming up, setting up special lights, etc. Just reach for your book and start reading.

2) There's nothing worth seeing behind you

Reading can be seen as a slow and boring activity. You may feel like you're missing out on what's going on in life in the time you devote to it. But it's probably the same, and the average day flies by. How many times over the years have you experienced an important and unrepeatable event? Not only books but life can be boring. We consume everything that happens during the day so fast that slow books can give us a break and make a difference in our lives.

3) Don't read too much

You don't need to read pages and pages every day. You don't have to finish 1 book in 2 days. Read the maximum number of pages you can by pushing yourself a little. Remember, the important thing is consistency. Sometimes I just read 2 pages and I am so happy with it.

4) Don't understand

You don't have to understand every sentence in the book. Don't get caught up in the details. Look at the big picture and then the pieces will fall into place.

5) Put the phone away

Put the phone away :d

Have good readings.
