Summary

The content discusses the aftermath of Chris Hogan's departure from Ramsey Solutions amidst allegations of infidelity and the subsequent legal actions and stories from former employees highlighting issues of control and ethical concerns within the company.

Abstract

Chris Hogan, a prominent figure associated with Ramsey Solutions, announced his departure following revelations of his infidelity, which the company was aware of since 2018. This event has brought to light a series of controversies involving Ramsey Solutions, including the termination of employees like Caitlin O'Connor, who was fired after requesting FMLA for her pregnancy, and the resignation of others, such as Amy Fritz's husband, due to disagreements with the company's handling of Hogan's situation and its adherence to core values. The narrative extends to the experiences of Melissa J. Hogan, Chris Hogan's ex-wife, who faced untruths and personal attacks after their split. The article reflects on the broader implications of these events, drawing parallels to instances of control and manipulation in religious settings, and questions the integrity of a corporation that preaches financial freedom while seemingly exercising strict control over its employees' personal lives.

Opinions

  • The author is a long-time follower of Dave Ramsey's financial advice but felt compelled to investigate the story further due to concerns about the company's actions.
  • There is a sense of disappointment and betrayal in the author's tone regarding Ramsey Solutions' handling of personal conduct and the apparent double standard in enforcing company policies.
  • The author empathizes with the women affected by the company's decisions, framing their stories as a fight against a powerful corporation, akin to the biblical David versus Goliath.
  • The article suggests that Ramsey Solutions, despite its success in helping people get out of debt, may have lost sight of its original mission by attempting to exert excessive control over employees' lives.
  • The author draws a personal connection by recalling a similar experience with a church that exercised control over its members, indicating a broader critique of institutions that prioritize conformity over individual circumstances.

Chris Hogan Fired?

There’s So Much More to This Story

If you don’t know who Chris Hogan is, it’s too late. You won’t hear from him personally for some time after his announcement on March 10, 2021. This story is so much more than just about him, anyway.

This is really the story of spouses and former employees of Ramsey Solutions like Amy Fritz, Melissa J. Hogan, and Caitlin O’Connor who filed a federal lawsuit last year against Ramsey Solutions. She was fired soon after she requested FMLA for her pregnancy. She was a four-year-long employee having a child out of a committed long-term relationship. Hogan’s statement on March 10, 2021, comes two days after attorneys for Caitlin O’Connor filed requests for Hogan’s personnel file.

What does one have to do with the other, you ask? Ramsey Solutions learned of Hogan’s infidelity in 2018, yet a female team member was let go soon after requesting FMLA. News4 Nashville reports Ramsey attorneys responded…“is a purveyor of biblically-based educational resources, prohibits employees from engaging in premarital sex. Plaintiff’s employment was terminated for violating this rule.”

Full disclosure, I’ve been a long-time follower of Dave Ramsey. I follow the baby steps to get out of debt, and I believe in the principles. But I needed to know more about this story, so I searched on YouTube.

This research led me to this former employee recently fired from Ramsey's Solutions because her husband publicly disagreed with their COVID policy. She wanted to remain anonymous for fear of backlash in her job search.

I also learned of Amy Fritz Exit Interview

And the story she published about her husband’s resignation from Ramsey Solutions after the handling of Chris Hogan’s extramarital affairs and divorce from Ex-wife Melissa Hogan.

Amy writes her husband took his concern to his team leader. The team leader resigned a month later. Amy’s husband resigned not long after that, concerned that the company was sheltering Chris Hogan’s indiscretions, and not following their core missions.

My research also brought me Melissa J Hogan’s Statement on March 10, 2021. Melissa writes she was the subject of untruths regarding her split.

How does this story make you feel?

Melissa’s story of being the subject of a team meeting is deeply upsetting to me.

I attended a church years ago, and the pastor stood in front of the congregation and spoke of a member’s personal marital struggles. She must change, or the elders should ask her to leave. This same pastor openly called Catholicism a false religion regarding a new student coming to the school.

I told my ex-husband about this, to which he spoke with the pastor, and ‘they wouldn’t make an issue that I was baptized Catholic’ They both missed the point.

We had to attend a minimum of two services a week to be members so that our kids could go to school there. The kids had to attend services in order to take part in activities. The pastor also accused members of using the church simply for reduced tuition for the school. We later left that church.

These stories have one thing in common. Control. Over employment, how you think, and how you react. Think and act like us, and don’t speak out against us.

These women are standing up to large a corporation with an even larger legal team. It’s like David vs Goliath, I don’t have to tell you who won that.

Ramsey Solutions does a lot of good things and helped millions get out of debt. The company that started out on a folding table in a living room is now a multi-million dollar business. When you try to control everything with closed fists, maybe your hands aren’t open to receive the truth any longer.
