Looks Can Be Deceiving
Don’t Judge Me By The Skin I’m In
I Think, And The Spirit Moves Me
Wednesday’s prompt: “What stereotype do you unwillingly fit?” Thank you, 𝘋𝘪𝘢𝘯𝘢 𝘊.

This piece is “My Revelation” that I’m the complete opposite of what “they” think.
I’m too lively to be lazy.
Too sane to be crazy.
I know I’m doing good when the Most High praises me.
Please don’t make the mistake.
And think a risk I’m not willing to take.
For progression’s sake.
I don’t need to work twice as hard.
I just need to carefully pick my part.
And then work twice as smart.
Go ahead and count me out.
So I can use your doubt.
To show you what I’m truly all about.
I make waves with a drop of water.
Make a dollar out of every quarter.
And transform utter chaos into complete order.
In the community.
I create opportunity.
And not conditions that promote disunity.
I’m the father figure for every child.
As I spend quality time with them for more than a while.
And they show and tell all the things that make us both smile.
I do more than hurt the generational curse.
I have it bypass the doctor and nurse.
And ride off in the hearse.
So don’t judge me by the skin I’m in.
Because I was born to win.
And my victories are due to my overstanding of the power within.
I look to the day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character~Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Thank you for taking minutes of your precious time and donating them to acknowledging my offering. May all we deserve and desire flow abundantly into our lives like a river does into a sea.
