Don’t Cry Over Your Mistakes. They Make You Human
“I want to succeed in life, I want to make money, I want to be famous, I want to have a purpose.”

You want to succeed in life; you want that new car or a bigger house or to be loved by others.
We all want to find it at the first glance, in the first minute, and on our first try.
This rarely happens because mistakes make us divert from our original path. Mistakes, however, are the guidelines for who you will be in the future.
You don’t accept mistakes. And society asks you to not make mistakes.
From the first years in school, you learn you need a certain path in your life and you may not deviate from it.
You need to accept that not every path in your life will be the “chosen one”, and now and then you’ll hit a brick wall. That’s a good thing, because that’s what makes you grow.
What you want to be when you grow up?
That question terrified me throughout my childhood and is still is at almost 30 years old. I never know what was the right answer.
But the beauty of life is that it won’t have to be a right answer, or even an answer. You don’t have to know what you want to do 10 years from now because you will change as a person. Even if you have something in mind right now, I bet that if you will look back 10 years from now, you’ll tell yourself that that wasn’t what you want it.
Over 10 years ago, I wanted to become a movie director. About 2 months later, I wanted to do psychology. After the other 2 months, I wanted to do philosophy. I ended up a graduate in political science and I work for some years as a journalist.
Today I write on Medium and I am the happiest I have been in years.
Mistakes don’t mean you did something wrong. It just means you’re not on the path you have to be on for you to become your better self.
How do you know that your life is going where is meant to be?
Even the surrounding people who love you, carry about you, and want your best don’t want you to make mistakes.
If you don’t make mistakes, how do you know what is best for you and how to avoid the negative outcome in your life?
I often see people that work for years to accomplish their dream. They put on hold happiness, their families, friends, and everything between. And when they arrive at the finish line, they realize that’s not what they want anymore.
So don’t make it hard for yourself. Don’t beat yourself up if you do a mistake because that mistake means you were not where you needed to be.
People are dissatisfied with their life. You live in constant pressure between how you see yourself and how others see you. You make a difference about what you want and what others want.
Life means that you learn something every day, especially if you make mistakes. Is simple to be scared about making something wrong, but if you don’t do it, how you know when you became better?
