How to do on-page optimization?
- Content is king. In the future, Google will take more steps to show the best content to the user. Add every relevant media to your blog posts to make your blog post more engaging. Videos are a very good tool to increase the time spent of a user on a blog post.
- Loading speed: Loading speed is one of the most important ranking factors. The very first thing you need to do is to reduce your blog post loading time. Factors that depend upon the loading speed is the hosting provider, the image you have used in the blog post and the other media you have added to your sidebars and the logo of the site. There are multiple sites that let you find your web page loading time, one of the sites you can use is GTmatrix.com, this site is very useful and most of the bloggers use it for finding the loading speed of their blog posts.
- Keyword: Put your keyword in the title, in the body of the content and in the meta description of your blog post. let say you want to write a post about “Best dog food” you should put this keyword in the title, less than 5% of the total length of the body of the content. Let say, the length of your blog post is 1000 words then you repeat the keyword less than 50 times.
- H2 Subheadings: Add your keyword in the H2 Headings too. Subheadings also help you rank your blog posts on multiple keywords. Subheadings also help you to engage your readers and increase the average time spent by the reader on your blog post. Like, Member read time matters for Medium partners, the same way, readers time spent on reading your blog post also matters for your blog post ranking.
- Interlinking: Interlinking is to add links to your posts previously published in your blog. You can use the same concept to your Medium stories. I often add links to my previous posts. This has many advantages, you spend countless time, writing, researching, editing and publishing your blog post. This will helps you to give life to your dead work and also this is a good strategy for on-page optimization. One advantage of Interlinking is to reduce the bounce rate of your blog post. How to do off-page optimization?
- Backlinks: Backlinks are the most important part of the search engine optimization strategy. Many bloggers make spammy links that result in the penalization from Google but the best strategy to make backlinks is to write for other bloggers for getting do-follow links. There are two types of backlinks — do-follow and no-follow. The links you add to your social media, Quora, YouTube or Medium are already termed as “No-follow” backlinks which means that the site doesn’t own it. The “do-follow” backlinks are the ones in which the admin of the site wants to tell the search engine bot that he recognizes this link as trustworthy.
- Your article sharing on different social media and the engagement it received across social media. The number of shares you have received on your blog post.
- Your site age and the domain authority of the website in general and the blog post in specific. The site age is also an important factor, if your site is older enough then it will look good in the eyes of the search engine, the same is true for the site that has a good domain authority. Domain authority increases with getting backlinks from authority sites like Forbes, entrepreneur.com, and BusinessInsider or you can add any popular site in the list. Medium has great domain authority, that’s why you can outrank other blogs easily if you write on this site.
