Don’t Be The Reason You Aren’t Succeeding

Are you constantly wondering why you’re not succeeding in your life or business?

No matter what you try, it seems that nothing ever works out for you?

Do you take two steps forward just to be knocked three steps back?

Are you like me, and have sticky notes written everywhere?

Perhaps, you’ve read tons of books or watched a shitload of videos on successful people?

Maybe you get really motivated and then fall right back into the same old habits by talking yourself out of what it is you want.

Do you fail to fall through with the plans you make towards making a change?

Well, sounds like the issue is you!

I know because this was me about a year ago….

I’m going to share with you several ways that you could be hindering your own success, plus how you can make a change!

You don’t believe in yourself!

Believing in yourself is key when it comes to making moves and succeeding outside of working for someone else.

If you don’t think you can, then you won’t!

It all starts with how you view yourself and what you believe you’re capable of.

Many times, all it takes is getting out of your own way and understanding that you can do anything that you want to do.

If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?

Believing in yourself is one of the most powerful and beneficial choices you can make for yourself!

You repeatedly pass up opportunities!

When it comes to entrepreneurship, I first got my feet wet back in 2012 when I was apart of a network marketing company.

I can’t tell you how many times I was told by potential business partners, I want to, but I just can’t see myself paying money to start a business or If I have to pay to get started, it’s a scam, no thanks!

Wait, so it doesn’t cost money to start and sustain a business? Makes no sense, but I digress…

The point of my discussing this is to say — If you never want to get involved in anything because you think it’s a scam, then you really need to change that way of thinking!

If you’re a writer and you run from pitching publications or sending writing samples to editors, then you are passing up opportunities!

The only way you’re going to write for a huge publication or land high paying clients is by getting your work out there and in front of the right eyes!

Another way that people let opportunities slide by them is by thinking that everything is too good to be true!

Don’t be this person!

Have you ever gotten started with something and then when you didn’t get the results you were looking for the first go around, you quit?

These are all major flaws!

Success doesn’t happen if you repeatedly pass up opportunities and it certainly doesn’t happen over night.

You’ve got to be in it to win it!

You have absolutely nothing to lose by trying something new.

You are super negative!

Oh boy, if this didn’t used to be me!

I was unbelievably negative about any and everything, that my boyfriend told me I should design a shirt that said I love negativity and sell them LOL

I actually wasn’t being negative by choice, it’s just that I was so fed up with my situation and I felt like I didn’t know how to change it, that I just shut down any idea or opportunity that was brought to me..

Don’t be like I was!

If you never have anything positive to say, this is part of your problem!

You can’t speak negatively, consume negativity all day, and expect positive outcomes.

If you are negative about every opportunity that comes your way, negative when someone you know is making boss moves, and just negative about your life in general, nothing will change for you!

You get back what you put out into the universe

And when you let negativity roll off of your tongue, that’s all you’re going to attract!

Try speaking positivity over your life by reciting daily affirmations. Also, start listening to positive and motivating podcasts, and reading motivational books.

I promise you that once you make these things a habit or apart of your daily routine, you won’t even let a negative thought enter your mind!

Today, I will literally cut myself off when I have a negative thought enter my brain.. like, girl, you don’t have time for this! You gon’ get this positivity today!

You think you know it all.

If you are always doing more talking than listening, especially when you are in the presence of someone who is where you aspire to be in life, this speaks volumes about you!

When someone who knows their shit is trying to talk to you, give you advice, or just drop some nuggets, listen!

When you think you know everything, you are setting yourself up for failure faster than you realize!

You don’t know everything, because if you did, you’d already be succeeding!

One of my favorite motivators, Malcolm “MJ” Harris, said it best:

Success leaves crumbs, and if you want to know how to obtain results that someone else has gotten, you’ve got to shut up & listen!

I love it, because so many people will ask you for advice or help, then when you tell them something that they don’t want to hear or drop some truth bombs on them, then all of a sudden it’s you think you’re better than them or you somehow don’t understand their situation!?

Which isn’t at all true…

They don’t understand that you used to be in the exact same situation as them, however, the difference is you actually opened up your ears and listened when people you admire, spoke!

You have an excuse for everything

If you are one of those people who have an excuse as to why nothing will work, then you will never succeed at anything!

Everything works if you do!

I love the saying:

You can either make money or make excuses, but you can’t do both.

That is nothing but the truth!

You have people that say they’d like to get a side hustle going, but they just don’t have time!

Newsflash — none of us have enough time for anything, but you have to make a way!

People make time for what they really want!

If you really want something, you go for it and don’t let anything stop you!

Let go of the excuses and you will be surprised at what you can accomplish!

You think that success is going to fall in your lap

If you’re a person that thinks you can substitute prayer for putting in the work, I’m sorry to disappoint you!

So many people feel that since they prayed for it, it’s going to happen for them!

Listen, nothing changes if nothing changes!

You can pray, hope, and wish all you want, but if you are not putting in some work to back those prayers, you are going to be in the same position for a very long time.

Always speak what you want into existence!

I am a firm believer in ask, believe, and receive, however, success is not going to just fall into your lap.

You have got to make some moves to align yourself with the life that you want.

If any of these points remind yourself of you, you don’t have to go on this way.

If you truly want success in life, you are going to have to commit wholeheartedly to letting go of your insecurities.

First, recognize that you are the problem, because if you don’t acknowledge that there’s a problem, you can’t fix anything.

Then work like hell to make some changes!

Don’t go another day being the reason you aren’t progressing!

You need to get out of your own way and start doing things today that will put you in a position of winning tomorrow!
