The title is bewildering as hell. However, I am telling you it is true. The second you want to win, you already lose.

In college, I was on the swimming team with regular competition throughout the year. In the beginning, I didn’t aim for medals because I was never top-notch. I just swam without thinking about anything in those races. Suddenly in one tournament, as usual I didn’t think of anything during my turn, I won a gold medal and broke the contest record. After that, everything changed. I trained hard. I set goals. I endeavored to win in every competition because the feeling of victory was so tempting that I savored it once. But I never won again. I just won once that time.

Later in my growing life, similar scenarios happened. If I wanted something eagerly and worked so hard to strive for it, I always failed. But when I didn’t care about it, it just came to me.

I wonder why. Am I a joke to the Universe?
