Donald Trump — Breaking News Indicted

Trump Indicted.
Trump now faces the reality of possibly 30 counts related to business fraud in an indictment from a Manhattan grand jury.
Some will say it is about time that this man was brought to justice. Others, equally passionately, will claim that he has been attacked politically since he assumed the office of President, and has been treated unjustly, and unfairly.
The latter, certainly, is what Trump has been saying for many years.

It is time now for the rubber to hit the road, and in these criminal proceedings, we will understand what the American legal system has to say about these alleged crimes.
This is the first time in American history that an Ex-President has been charged, and whilst later administrations can pardon federal crimes, this is not true of cases held outside of the federal legal system.
Ex-President Trump can get on his Bully pulpit, and say whatever he likes to his adoring followers, but none of that means anything, because everything will be driven by the legal processes that have bought him to this moment in time.
This is now a question of law and not public opinion.
Donald Trump wrapped himself in the American flag, and at the same time, it is alleged, he repeatedly lied and committed criminal acts before, and after he became President.
There are so many anomalies with his Presidency that it is hard for an outsider to get a true grasp of the reality of those times.
But a lot of that uncertainty is coming to an end, or at least, a new beginning.
I am not an American critic. There are good and bad things that happen in every country, including here in Australia.
When a country has enormous power, it can use that power to do enormous good, and at the same time, it can misuse that power to promote and try to enforce, legally and illegally the goals of a selected few in a country that hold true political power.
Someone once said that the ‘people’ can vote for whomever they like, as long as they get to pick those they are going to vote for.
No political system is perfect, because people are not perfect.
And politics is about people.
I don’t like Trump, because of the kind of man I think him to be, and because of my understanding of what I think he has done. I am biased.
My views may be wrong.
Time will tell.
It is not my desire to hurt or anger anyone by expressing my point of view, particularly, as I am only talking about my opinion, and not established fact.
But I defend my right to express those opinions, with a willingness to accept the judgment of history.
The coming trial will decide this, not you or me. Our opinions are no longer important, and the only issue now is the law itself.
But of course, this is not the only legal challenge that Trump faces.
Consider some of the things that he is alleged to have done before becoming president, and during his presidency.
Some of the illegal acts that President Trump were accused of since running for president are:
- He violated campaign finance laws by directing and concealing hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had affairs with him, in order to influence the 2016 election (the current indictment, with possible charges for financial irregularities).
- He obstructed justice by interfering with the FBI’s investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 election and the subsequent special counsel investigation led by Robert Mueller.
- It is alleged that he fired FBI Director James Comey, and pressured Attorney General Jeff Sessions, who later recused himself. This happened because he was apparently attempting to have Mueller fired to limit the scope of his investigation.
- He also allegedly tampered with witnesses, such as Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort, by dangling pardons or threatening retaliation.
- He was not charged by the Department of Justice due to a policy that prohibits indicting a sitting president, but he could still face charges after leaving office.
- He attempted election fraud by pressuring Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to overturn his loss in the 2020 election.
- He allegedly threatened Raffensperger with criminal consequences if he did not comply.
- He is under investigation by the Fulton County District Attorney’s office for this offense.
- He incited insurrection by encouraging his supporters to storm the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 election.
- He allegedly lied about the election results, urged his supporters to “fight like hell” and “stop the steal”, and failed to take action to stop the violence.
- He was impeached by the House of Representatives for this offense, but acquitted by the Senate. He is also under investigation by a federal grand jury for his role in the attack.
- He violated the Presidential Records Act by unlawfully possessing and destroying government records relating to his official duties as president.
- He allegedly took records with him when he left office and stored them at his Mar-a-Lago resort, where they were discovered by federal agents during a search in February 2022 (there are related questions about other politicians such as President Bidon, and Pence for not returning documents — but such claims, have nothing to do with his apparent criminal acts, and do not mitigate or change the fact of his possible illegality).
- He also allegedly used encrypted messaging apps, private email accounts, and personal phones to conduct official business, and instructed his staff to do the same. He is under investigation by a federal grand jury for this offense (Contrast this with his vicious political attacks against Hillary Clinton).
I have already acknowledged my bias when it comes to this question of personal and political corruption.
Like everyone, I have a clear right to express my own views, as does everyone.
I am interested in learning what you think, and why?
Please feel free to comment, and I will not take offense with constructive criticism, or helpful corrections.
