Summary

A humorous conversation between a man named Carl and his dog Rex about human anatomy, the concept of stabbing, and the human fascination with certain body parts, sparked by a movie they watched together.

Abstract

The dialogue unfolds between Carl and his dog Rex during a routine feeding. Rex, overly protective of his food, threatens Carl with a knife attack he learned from a movie. Carl attempts to clarify the misunderstanding about the location of vital organs and the lethality of stabbing someone in the chest versus the face. The conversation takes a comedic turn as Rex expresses confusion about human anatomy and Carl's explanation leads to a discussion on the human chest, breathing, and the heart. The dialogue then shifts to the topic of human sexual dimorphism as Rex questions why men are particularly interested in women's breasts, to which Carl responds with a light-hearted, nature-based rationale. The conversation ends with Rex returning to his food and Carl humorously surrendering the discussion.

Opinions

  • Rex believes the face is the most important part of the body, reflecting a canine perspective on human interactions.
  • Carl is amused by Rex's confusion and uses it as an opportunity to educate him about human anatomy.
  • Rex is skeptical about the importance of the chest in human anatomy and finds it illogical that stabbing there could be fatal.
  • Carl jokes about the male fascination with women's breasts, attributing it to a natural, yet une

“Back up man!” Rex barked as Carl poured dog food into his bowl. “Get away from my food!”

“It’s ok,” replied Carl. “I’m just putting it down for you to eat. Calm down.”

“Don’t tell me to calm down! If you don’t get away from my food, I’ll get a knife and stab you in the face!”

“What?” Carl was surprised. “What are you talking about? How do you even know what stabbing is?”

“That movie we were watching earlier. A guy took a knife and stabbed another guy with it and the other guy died. And I will totally do the same to you. With a knife; in the face!”

“Ok, stop. The guy didn’t get stabbed in the face. He got stabbed in the chest.”

“That doesn’t make any sense,” Rex barked. “Why would that kill him? Who even wrote that movie?”

“Your heart and lungs are in your chest. If you get a hole in one of them, you’ll probably die.”

“Wait… They’re in your chest?”

“Yes. Where’d you think the air you breathe goes?”

“…in my mouth…” Rex barked with suspicion.

“When you take a deep breath your chest expands because that’s where the air is going. Try it,” suggested Carl.

Rex breathed deep, noticing his chest expand. “Oh my god. It goes all the way in there?”

“Yep. Your heart’s down in there too.”

“Ok, but it still makes more sense to stab someone in the face.”

“Why?”

“Your face is the most important part of your body. That’s why, when you look at someone, you look at their face. You’d never look at someone’s chest.”

“Well,” Carl grinned, “I might if that person was a woman.”

“Why a woman?”

“Because women have boobs.”

“So?” Rex barked, now confused.

“Guys like boobs.”

“Why do guys like boobs? That doesn’t make any sense.”

“No one knows. It’s a mystery of nature.”

“Women use their boobs to feed babies. I’ve seen it. Are you wanting a woman to feed you too?”

“No, it’s nothing like that. Besides, when I’m hungry I just get some food.”

“Food!” Rex barked, remembering his dog dish. “Back the hell up man!”

Carl threw his hands up in the air. “Ok, I’m out,” he said as he walked away.
