Does Your Online Image Matter to Employers?

Recently, I had an interview for a freelancing gig where the client talked about an article of mine that she had read. Perhaps it was meant as an icebreaker, however, I was cringing inwardly.
Out of all my articles, why pick the one about Ding Dong and Embarrass?

Lynn Miner-Rosen explains why your digital footprint is important: “..because college admissions offices and employers do read your online profiles and they do make decisions based on the information they find out.”
Digital footprint refers to information about you that’s online including Facebook posts, YouTube videos, blogs, tweets, etc. In other words, it’s how the world sees you.
CareerBuilder says 70% of employers “use social media to screen candidates before hiring.”
