Does Writing 2x a day Produce a Growth Spurt on Medium?
Will the Algorithm Notice Now?
To test the theory if writing more will have better results on Medium, I have devised a plan to do just that. I have been faithfully writing one article a day since the second week of January 2024.
If you have read my other articles, you have read my pleas to the medium algorithm to notice me. I have seen growth from writing one article per day, but I have yet to notice an explosion in stats.
I have been earning on average about $3.25/day. Some days more and some days less but this has been my sustained average since January. As for growth in followers, it slowed down considerably in February, but I also slowed down my rate of following other writers who are not contributing back.
My follower count in January averaged 15 new followers a day and gained 488 in January alone. This month so far, I have been averaging about 10 new followers a day. I have gained a total of 138 so far this month.
My subscriptions have increased to 1 subscriber per day as opposed to 1 every other day. So here is a recap:
January 2024
· Earnings: $3.25/day
· Followers: 15/day
· Subscribers: less than 1/day
February 2024
· Earnings: $4.61/day so far (I peeked today but I won’t again until this Sunday ☹) I gained almost $17 overnight not sure why, but hey I’ll take it! I am at $60.30 so far this month and $17 of that happened last night.
· Followers: 10/day
· Subscribers: 1/day
All this is for you all to see, learn from, and point out my mistakes. My tactics since January have been the following:
· Write 1 awe-inspiring article a day!
· Engage
· Write a couple of times a week Medium or stat related article, because that is what is popular around here.
That has been my strategy up until now. Even though I have seen some growth, I have not seen the type of growth that I was expecting to see.
What I have been surprised about as of late is the fact that my earnings have risen, and my subscribers have risen but my followers have declined. Who can figure this mysterious algorithm out?
So, my next change, which I am inviting you all to be part of is the following:
1. Write 2 times per day a few days a week (I do not know if I can do every day with my responsibilities)
2. Engage with 20–30 people per day.
3. 1 x a day try to max out the number of comments allowed on this platform, which is 100.
4. Continue to work on my story tags and see if that makes a difference in my stats, although I have made it to the top of 3 topics so far.
