Does Medium Feel Like Journaling to You Too?

Writing on Medium is like journaling for me — with all the benefits and more.

Since I started writing on Medium, I’ve gained more clarity in my plan and purpose. As I write, new ideas and perspectives begin to form and solidify. It’s about as close as I’ve come to consistency in writing down the inner workings of my mind.

I am one of those people who has started so many journals and then abandoned them. The Medium community serves as an accountability partner for me. While I love to write, my ADHD mind tends to distract me from completion at times (ok, most of the time…well, until now, yes now I remind myself).

However, journaling doesn’t provide feedback, community, and constant learning from others and their stories, knowledge, and insights. There are so many amazing writers here from so many genres and styles. I gain a great deal from being here on Medium’s online writing platform which helps me break down my resistance to keep writing.

As much as I know about all the benefits of journaling such as guiding self-reflection and gaining valuable insights, managing stress by pouring it out on the page, and honing my writing and communication skills, I just never stuck with it.

Yet, here I am gaining these same benefits by expressing myself here with all of you.

While a journal is very private, perhaps by sharing my thoughts and ideas here, I will grow by allowing myself to be more vulnerable, less self-conscious, and more courageous in my writing.

Thank you all for reading along with me on this journey.

P.S. I made it through this story without getting too distracted. This is building my discipline muscle too!
