Doc Rich Suggests Steve Harvey Supports Donald Trump for 2024
As the U.S. elections in 2024 approach, a lot is happening within the Republican primary. Specifically, the former president Donald J. Trump is running again and is the first former president to be indicted (four times) for the January 6, 2021 Capitol assault.
As a freelance writer and educator, I will be monitoring misinformation leading up to the election from both sides of the aisle. Why? Because we have to dialogue and understand people with different points-of-view. We need to overcome polarization and the echo chamber effect.
The video I have included below by Doc Rich suggests that Harvey has endorsed Trump for the Presidential Elections in the video below.
The video is a green screen background and shows Harvey making a passionate speech as to why “Donald Trump is not going to be that bad.” Unfortunately, the text that covers the top and bottom portions raised my suspicions about the authenticity of the this speech.
After fact-checking the video here’s what you need to know:
- Video was recorded in 2017
- Harvey was asked a question not connected to the current election
- The topic was about a woman wanting to move out of the country
- Harvey has not made any official statements or announcements for the 2024 election
Here is the original video that was taken out of context by Doc Rich:
The video is 1:15 seconds long. The woman in the audience said she wanted to move to Sweden because they have free education and healthcare. She asked Harvey if she can convince her husband to side with her to which he said it was not going to be that bad and IKEA will build their desks in the United States.
It is a very populist and rhetorical device to use for believing that somehow Presidents can bring back home manufacturing when globalization is in full force. Not against developing industries and jobs within the U.S. but the reality is very different than what was implied in this video.
Harvey and Trump met back in 2017
It is true that once upon a time Trump and Harvey met up to discuss matters regarding Housing and Urban Development. Harvey had already been involved with the Obama administration and had a meeting with Trump about next steps regarding housing.
The link below explains the nature of the meeting but does not serve as any indicators thatHarvey has supported Trump’s aspirations to return to the White House for 2024.

Verdict
What is unfortunate about videos like these is that it misleads viewers on YouTube to think Harvey has endorsed Trump. It has not but with the way the video was edited, is looks compelling.
As always check the person making the claim, check for official announcements and look for current news to find evidence of claims like thesse made online.
