Often very hard to walk your way down your road of life. There are *so* many influences out there that will try, like those enormous billboards along the highway, to urge you to take up a “fake” way of life.
“Lose weight now!”
“Change your hillbilly accent so that you can get that high paying $$$ job in rat-race city”!
“I want to go to college to become a music major but Father wants me to become an accountant”!
A true story: Back in these hippie days, various psychological centers began something called “encounter groups”
“a group of people who meet, usually with a trained leader, to increase self-awareness and social sensitivity, and to change behavior through interpersonal confrontation, self-disclosure, and strong emotional expression.”

There was the first meeting of such an encounter group in California. Immediately the group of people began to tear at each other’s egos. One of the group members was a college “intellectual”, a professor. This group latched onto him and one member said to him, “you think too much, why don’t you just do your thing instead”?!
He replied, “But thinking IS my Thing”!
Be aware of your thoughts and feelings, often they are not your own! They often come from your upbringing in your family. Also, they come from your kin and other relatives. Then they come from your small townspeople or your work people. Then there is that never-end “wind” called “advertising”! This “wind” wants to blow you off of your road into their recruiting office to sign you up. Oh, you *can* check out anytime, but you never ever can really leave!
Read “Pilgrim’s Progress”! So many side trails on this mountain path, each leading to a “fake” goal that might not be what your Self wants for you, and this Self really wants to get to the top of the mountain so that you can face God face to face! But first, you have to grow your face, which is your soul! Your soul should consist of Real stuff, stuff that has a spiritual goal. Thus walk the road of life following only your soul’s wishes for you.
